May buy 05 Yukon - what should I look for?

Look for rusty brake lines and rocker panels. Those are things that I missed when I bought my '05. I had one line blowout while driving and it wasn't fun.

    Center cap knockoffs?

Isn't that what a knockoff is? Something that's not original? According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, “knockoff: A copy that sells for less than the original.”

    Center cap knockoffs?

Thanks for your input guys. I went ahead and ordered a set (they're only $25) and we'll see how well they work. I'll update this thread after they arrive. Hopefully, I won't need to remove them very often.

    Center cap knockoffs?

Before I pull the trigger on this, I'm hoping someone has done it. I'd like to replace my 3.25 center caps with something nicer but I thought I should ask first. This is what I have: This is what my center cap looks like: This is what I'd like to replace with: They look like they're...

2006 GMC Yukon 5.3..The shops around me say I'm going to die

Man, tough decision. I would personally stick with the steel lines but I live down in the south and we don't have the rust issues that you get up there. This is a good place to ask your question though. Tons of experts here that have been there and done that. I also think this is a job you...

00-02 console grip for a phone?

Hey, great suggestion! I think the spray-on would be the way to go, although I'd have to pull the console out to get the best results. I hadn't even thought of that.

00-02 console grip for a phone?

What do those of you with an older Tahoe do to stop your phone from slipping around? The small shelf under the climate controls is too small (and plastic) to put my phone on and the top of the center console is hard plastic. I usually end up just shoving my phone in the aftermarket bin I...

Swap 2005 Tahoe Navi stereo with non-Navi

Thank you Slypher! If I hadn't already gotten it unlocked I would have sent it to you. I found a service and they did it for me for $50 plus $20 shipping. All in all, it cost me about $130 ($60 on ebay and $70 to unlock) I'm happy and it wasn't too much trouble. I would recommend them as...

This might help you track it down. Looks like Color Bond does a good job of matching GMC colors. https://t.ly/OQZz

    My 2001 Tahoe makeover

Thank you! I had found those too but I thought it was $30 per cap and I didn't want to pay $120 for them. I just placed my order. :)

    My 2001 Tahoe makeover

Sure thing! here you go. The turning hasn't seemed to change that I can tell, but I do have a little rub that I'm going to need to fix that I didn't have before. It's not on the fender flare like I would have thought. It was the plastic wheel well insert. I'm going to have to trim it about...

    My 2001 Tahoe makeover

I think the forum really helps. When you share a love for something that others completely understand it makes it less work and more joy I think. This forum has no doubt made me want to do things on my Tahoes that I wouldn't have done without it.

    My 2001 Tahoe makeover

I agree with you. After I used oven cleaner to shine the rims up, I actually kind of like the shiny look on black look of it. That's why I'm not in a big hurry to replace them yet. I need to replace the center caps on them because they are all scratched up and those seem to be expensive. I...

    My 2001 Tahoe makeover

AJ, I bought this from Summit. Here is a link. They had to send me 2 because the first one was really bent up. The second one was bent too but my body guy just straightened it out. Summit was actually really helpful in getting it all take care of. I'm sure they lost money on me. Also, it...

    My 2001 Tahoe makeover

I've been a member of this board for about a year after I bought a 2005 Tahoe LS. It had a lot wrong with it but thanks to people on this board, I was able to figure out how to fix almost all of it. It was a fun project. I also learned through all of this that I liked the looks and the...

Swap 2005 Tahoe Navi stereo with non-Navi

Thank you Doubleleive! Man I got excited when I saw your link. Unfortunately, my stereo is the NAVI kind so they have to hook it up. I found a place that will do it for $50 (he has a Tech2) but he's wondering if he'll need special software and said that if he did need it, it would raise the...

Swap 2005 Tahoe Navi stereo with non-Navi

Thanks @Mr.960 for the offer. If I had seen this, I would have taken you up on it. I went ahead and bought the exact same one (with Bose, single CD, GPS, ect) off Ebay but I'm getting the "Theftlock Activated" message. I called the dealership and they want $189 to fix it. LOL Think I'll...

Swap 2005 Tahoe Navi stereo with non-Navi

Thank you S33k3r! That's kind of what I'm worried about...that security crap that you have to take to a dealer to reprogram. Might be more cost-effective to buy a cheap aftermarket that works with the steering wheel controls. Anyone know of a way to cheaply reprogram these GM stereos?

Swap 2005 Tahoe Navi stereo with non-Navi

I've got a 2005 Tahoe that originally came with Navi stereo and the screen is terrible and the maps are just as bad. I want to swap it out with one of the 6-disc CD stereos of the same year model but I don't want to buy one unless I know it's going to work. It has the Bose package so I would...

    Z71 Nerf bar molding bracket

Hey guys... working on my Z71 and just pulled off the factory nerf bars and molding around it. I'm getting ready to have it painted and wanted to have everything I could off of it beforehand. After the plastic came off, I can see there is a bracket for the molding that is riveted onto the...

    Can’t find GMT800 pocket flares

I have to be @Pilot, I bought a 2005 Tahoe for my daily driver and have used this board for lots of help. I was browsing around YouTube a few months when I caught all the videos you've done on yours and it took me a whole new direction. I bought a 2001 Tahoe and starting all over again and...

    Steering Wheel Position Sensor bad??

Hey guys! Sorry for the late reply to this. It ended up being a bad clockspring. I ordered a new one from Amazon for about $120 and then the issue sent away. I screwed it up myself in the first place by spinning the wheel around like a monkey because it was entertaining.
