Help with Bilstein 5100 and 2" lift

I called Bilstein to ask about the rear lift height discrepancy thing… The product technical support guy told me the stated heights listed are indeed the correct min/max rear lift heights to achieve the best performance/shock travel (and to stay within warranty) as per their tests... Meaning...

Help with Bilstein 5100 and 2" lift

Still doing research… I heard Rancho RS7MT shocks are bit more comfortable/cushiony than the Bilstein 5100’s? Any comparison? The Rancho RS7000MT (now called RS7MT) come in different sizes for different height applications as well: 0” height, 1” height and 4” height (which I think they mean...

Help with Bilstein 5100 and 2" lift

Also, which rear Bilstein shocks would be appropriate for a 2" lift rear spacer? 24-187237 OR 24-185783? What threw me off is several websites (Summit Racing, Shock Warehouse and Amazon) incorrectly list 24-187237 as appropriate for a 0"-2" rear lift, which is a mistake per the Bilstein product...

    front jounce bumpers

Wow this is good info. I'm about to install Bilstein 5100's as well, and will get a pair of these to boot. Could you share a little more about what you had to do to install these? You mentioned a drill bit... Did you have to drill a hole for these? What size/thickness washers did you use...

Help with Bilstein 5100 and 2" lift

I'd like to lift my NBS Yukon XL by 2"-2.5", and wondering if anyone can help answer a few questions... I will be installing Z71 springs (Moog 81069 rear), and initially considered the Rough Country 2" lift kit, which comes with 2" torsion keys (front) and 2" spacers (rear), along with longer...

    T1 suspension on NBS?

Does anyone now if the T1 springs will retrofit on NBS/NNBS models?

Where to score a new cat?

Indeed, I’ve thought about moving, but currently tied to the city due to work and real estate. The neighborhood I live in is very nice (in the day time), mostly families, students, etc., just at night is when the property crime gets rampant. The city needs the addicts and criminals to justify...

    5.3 to 6.2 swap checklist

Ahh good to know. I read something about the L94 having larger injectors due to the AFM, which are nice if building/modding for more power and with a hotter cam, but I'm going for a (mostly) stock build, so will focus on the L9H. Thanks for the clarification. If the donor engine comes with the...

Where to score a new cat?

So, my beloved Yukon has been stolen 3 times, and broken into easily over 50 times (I've learned to replace my own glass!) However, the last time I recovered her after a theft, the check engine light was on... Its a catalytic converter code. And for a while, I could hear what sounded like...

    5.3 to 6.2 swap checklist

I've been reading up on what is necessary to complete this swap, and wanted to make a checklist to be able to execute a smooth plan, but have a few questions, and hoping some of the experts on here could chime in... The 6.2 swap is going into either a 2013 Suburban or 2013 Avalanche (whichever...

    2008 Suburban Engine Swap - 6.0 to 6.2

How is the progress on this build? I’m considering a 6.2 swap as well, so I’ve been following along. Have you decided for sure if you’re steadfast on the 6.2, or rebuilding the 6.0 after all?

4 Piston Big Brake Upgrade from 2019-20

Have you (or anyone else here) experienced the same thing as in the video regarding more pedal travel and more pressure needed to really lock up the brakes and/or activate ABS in an panic stop? So, if TheKingCoopa didn’t accidentally leave some air in the system (in the video), and .1875”...

4 Piston Big Brake Upgrade from 2019-20

It appears this BBK package (RPO PPV J55) might also be available on the LT and LS trims as an option (part# 84766666), so would likely just bolt up (albeit with some washers like the 4 piston T1). However, indeed the bang for buck price-wise does not compare at $2100, but perhaps it will drop...

4 Piston Big Brake Upgrade from 2019-20

Also, it appears that the non-Hydroboost 1500 NBS, NNBS through 2018 all seem to use a 1 1/8” bore size MC (aka 1.125”), while the T1 uses a 1 5/16” bore size MC (aka 1.3125”). Would be interesting to find out whether the 9C1 PPV master cylinder are the same size too (assuming they probably are).

2006 GMC Yukon rear brake caliper

Could you clarify what is needed for the Gen 1 CTS-V front calipers to fit on the rear? Does it use the CTS-V rotors too?

Rear brake upgrade to dual piston NBS?

Wondering if anyone has seen an improvement by installing a pair of dual piston rear calipers from 00-06 (NBS) Yukon/Suburban? Did it bolt right up?

4 Piston Big Brake Upgrade from 2019-20

I just read this entire thread, a lot of good info. Reminds my why I love this forum. Seems like it could be the ultimate brake upgrade. However, possible plot twist… The 2021 Tahoe 9C1 PPV and Silverado PPV (and maybe the 21 Esky?) come with 6 piston Brembo calipers and massive 16” rotors...

    Brake upgrade/retrofit?

Upon doing some research it appears that 19+ Silverado/Sierra or 21+ Tahoe/Yukon 4 piston front rotors/calipers will fit, along with dual piston 00-06 NBS rotors/calipers.

    Brake upgrade/retrofit?

Otherwise would the 2019+ Sierra calipers fit, given that they fit onto the NBS and NNBS chasses?

    Brake upgrade/retrofit?

Does anyone now if the 2018 Sierra 2500HD rotors and calipers will bolt onto a 2018 Tahoe? I know the rotors are bigger [360mm(F) / 350mm(R) VS 345mm(F) / 330mm(R) ]... or are the spindles different?

How to code out O2 sensors/cats?

Fair points. I’d like to be able to pass smog in case I ever want to register it again for street use. I’ll try the defouler method or silicone method, and perhaps one of those will work.

How to code out O2 sensors/cats?

Well, converting my truck to off-road only… and wondering how to code out the O2 sensors if I remove my cats? And if I do code them out, will I still be able to pass smog? (No sniffer)

    5.3 vs 6.0 Vortec?

Anyone have experience with both the 5.3 and High Output 6.0 that came in the Denali, Sierra and Esky. How is reliability compared? Power bump worth the mpg loss?

    Best brand of O2 sensors?

Hunting down a P0135 code… Going to replace the O2 sensor, and realize there is a million different brands out there. AC Delco, Bosch, etc., and I’m leaning toward the Genuine GM ones. Is there a consensus on something better?

Anyone running Mobil One High Mileage Extended Performance?

So does "High Mileage" oil mean its for an engine with higher mileage on the odometer? Or does it just mean that the oil change interval is rated on more miles driven before the next oil change? (I always thought it was the former).
