Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

    I am not sure about the bigger diesel, but I think this video is for the 3L If I am not mistaken, I think this is a GM mechanic who has his own channel;

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Why was the dealer using Mobil instead of the AC Delco ATF ? Personally I am considering using Amsoil Signature Series ULV

    Another oil weight question

Without going into detail (you can go down the rabbit hole if you wish), yes CAFE standards caused GM and others in the USA to use colored water instead of quality protective oil, ATF, etc. All to meet certain MPG criteria, environmental rubbish, the customer be damned.

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

No, as the woman service writer said her top trans fluid tech told her "it might" need a reprogram, so she obviously didn't know. I am hoping someone like Nick Transmissions might know, and I am going to ask around to see if others are doing it. I am tempted to go somewhere other than the...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

I live in a very warm climate, so the things people in the north/cold climate worry about is not a concern for us down south. Even in the cold months my trans temp gets to 60 while idling for just a few minutes, and is good to go. If global cooling gets worse I might have to rethink things. :Big...

The engine on the Yukon I got as a replacement for the Yukon that got two engine replacements needs replaced. Yes, you read that correctly.

Aside from any manufacturing problems on the assembly line, these morons at GM put meeting the CAFE standards above the health and longevity of their engines (maybe even their transmissions) with recommended fluids that is as thin as water. They are destroying the GM brand as a result. I have...

The engine on the Yukon I got as a replacement for the Yukon that got two engine replacements needs replaced. Yes, you read that correctly.

With the issues I experienced with my 2015 Escalade (heavy carbon buildup on the valves because of the variable valve timing crap) I decided to get the 3L turbo diesel on my 2021 to avoid all these crazy engine failures like the OP is going thru. It is too early to tell if I made the right...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Thanks for the replies thus far. I have a bunch of questions and observations. 1) Is anyone running other ATF than AC Delco when they flushed/changed it, and if so what did you choose and why? 2) Has anyone done the bypass, as I am serious thinking about doing so with this unit? Since we...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Thanks for the reply. Far be it for me to question someone who works on transmissions for a living with my limited knowledge, especially when it comes to tranmissions. That said, as you might imagine I have spoken to guys who work on them exclusively, and they have differening points of view...

Considering how GM screwed us with the oil, what about the ATF?

Years ago before synthetic oil, I was running 20W50 in most of my motors (some HP applications) and never thought about fuel efficiency, I just wanted the most protection possible. Never did I have an engine failure. In recent years GM has told us we MUST use the every thinning oil to maintain...

    Fans running constantly

I experienced the same problem, and this thread might be helpful; https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/fans-run-like-the-engine-is-overheating-coolant-gauge-reads-no-temperature-a-c-disengaged.133032/

Fans run like the engine is overheating, coolant gauge reads no temperature, A/C disengaged.

I just realized I never followed up with the end result, and instead posted it on a different forum I am a member of. I replaced both the sensor & thermostat, reset the system by disconnecting the battery, and from that point on I never had the problem again. It was likely just the sensor, but...

Fans run like the engine is overheating, coolant gauge reads no temperature, A/C disengaged.

That is what I assumed with a cold engine not under pressure. However my old mechanic skills do not always translate to modern engines/systems.

Most recent work done was a new injector replacement, but nothing to do with the cooling system. The tank is at normal level.

Fans run like the engine is overheating, coolant gauge reads no temperature, A/C disengaged.

I have actually watched the video from this guy when he first got hold of that ESV a year or so ago. He acquired it from the dealership near me for a song. I actually reached out to them saying if they had any other deals like that, count me in, as that was a steal. As to the malady, I am...

Fans run like the engine is overheating, coolant gauge reads no temperature, A/C disengaged.

First of all, this video does help, as it mirrors my issue to the tee. Second, and before some say "I told you so", I had tried to look up my issue on Google and Youtube (that is why such suggestions can be pointless), and as we all know, sometimes one key word missing or some other variable...

Fans run like the engine is overheating, coolant gauge reads no temperature, A/C disengaged.

Well then tell me why even come to a forum like this, when the only two suggestions is to do what is obvious to most other people. If this was a very active forum, someone might give such responses as a bump post to bring it back up to the top some someone with knowledge might see it. But this...

Fans run like the engine is overheating, coolant gauge reads no temperature, A/C disengaged.

No offense is intended with the following reply to your post. Many of us do not need generic replies about checking factory manuals, or that we can buy information from Ebay, or Google is our friend. When I see fellow posters who need assistance, if I have the ability to help them, I give as...

Fans run like the engine is overheating, coolant gauge reads no temperature, A/C disengaged.

My 2015 Escalade was running fine, but I noticed a loud hum under the hood. The fans were running much faster than usual, so I looked at my coolant guage and it was reading zero, despite me having driven for miles. I pulled over and under the hood the temp felt fine, hose barely warm to the...

Touch screen not working on lower half

Hello, and welcome to the forum. If you read my thread, it might help you in that my screen started to malfunction in the exact same way. Eventually it became useless for any features. I had an extended warrantee, so mine was replaced by the dealership, but features I had on it before, were not...

Say it isn't so Joe, say it isn't so

As an update, as usual the SM gave me incorrect information. Since they did not replace the HMI module, the feature was still present, but not turned on/programmed back when the new screen was installed. That is the good news, as I have my pause and rewind feature still intact. The potential...

Say it isn't so Joe, say it isn't so

I was told by a company that sells refurbished screens, that the feature is not inside the unit that was replaced (think computer screen but the features are in the hardware itself) and instead in the "HMI module". So in theory, that unless they also replaced that module, the feature/s should...

Say it isn't so Joe, say it isn't so

I tried calling GM, and they have still not gotten back to me. Does anyone know if replacing the entire unit means HD radio no longer exists in the programming or not?

Say it isn't so Joe, say it isn't so

Aside from the various problems I am having with the dealer screwing me on the drivetrain warranty (see my other thread if interested) :flame:, I had my main screen replaced due to it freezing up as it became useless. When I got it back, they had replaced the entire unit. However when I went to...

My dealership odyssey and claimed carbon buildup

Well the latest tale of this story is that after I had to pay a portion of the valve job, I picked it up and within a couple of days of city driving short distances, my full tank of premium was down to empty, and the check engine light has come back on. It is not running as rough, but still...
