Geez! GM engineering just gets more and more stupid every day!

And the belt going bad ad 63K miles? Should last about 200 K!

It's not just GM. Many manufacturers are going with this style of "stretch" belt. Saves money and weight on tensioners and so forth. Mazda has stretch belts you can remove with your hand, no tool needed. But this is because all the effort they have put in the "Skyactive" engine technology and the belts often do not have the drive loading that other engines have.

Not sure I agree, but this is where the industry is heading.

The lisle 59560 tool did not work for the A/C belt because it hit the bottom of the water pump while turning the balancer.
