Beware: GM Nightmare - Defective 2024 and 2022 Yukon Diesel

If your thought is GM is the only one with quality issues on some of their builds, you will be in for a rude awakening. Owning a business, we have a mix and match fleet, we used to be all GM until the vehicle shortage hit, then it was buy what we could find. The overall majority have minor, or no issues at all, but there are a few from Ford, Lincoln, Ram, Dodge, Toyota, and Nissan that are the same, in the shop more than they are on the road.
The parts, engineering, and QC just isn't what it was pre-Covid. When I look at the Monthly Fleet Repair cost per mile, which lists all of the vehicles currently inservice, my blood almost boils. Repair failures are up, as well as the cost to repair. The days of the cigarette lighter doesn't work, I replaced the fuse, has morphed into the cigarette lighter didn't work, which also disabled the defroster, heater, A\C, put the engine into limp mode, and the dash lit up like the Grisswalds house at Christmas, and the midbody electrical panel was replaced to fix it.
I appreciate your perspective, and it's disheartening to hear that various brands are experiencing similar issues. It seems like the challenges in the automotive industry, exacerbated by the vehicle shortage and the impact of the pandemic, have taken a toll on overall quality and reliability.
It's unfortunate that the days of simple fixes have evolved into more complex and expensive repairs, as illustrated by your example. The shift in the repair landscape is indeed frustrating for consumers and businesses alike.

I went through hell with my 21 Yukon, 2 engine replacements and a third failure all in 8 months. It was long, but GM did work with me and make it right, and I am enjoying my 2023. **knock on wood**

Keep pushing them, they'll make it right. Good luck.

I need to share my frustrating experience with our 2024 Yukon from GM. After 2 years of dealing with issues in our 2022 Yukon, GM finally replaced it with a 2024 model. Unfortunately, the replacement only lasted 123 miles before breaking down, throwing multiple error codes and triggering the dreaded check engine light.

While GM agreed to buy back the defective 2024 Yukon, the repurchasing process has stretched to a grueling eight weeks, and we are still in the waiting game.

To add insult to injury, GM expects us to foot the bill for a rental car since we are currently without a vehicle. They promise reimbursement, but the reality is, we're left in the lurch, paying insurance for a car parked in one of their dealership lots, all while they continue to receive their scheduled payments.

It's disheartening to see a company not only struggle with producing reliable vehicles but also fail to streamline their processes and retain loyal customers. ‍♂️

I share this story not as a complaint, but as a cautionary tale. I wouldn't want anyone else to endure the frustration and inconvenience we've faced. Let's hope GM takes note and works towards improving their vehicles quality and customer experience.

Same thing happened to me :Our 2022 yukon motor had to be replaced. We have family of five so we needed to rent a bigger car from enterprise. We had a rental for two months before they found us a loaner. . I am still waiting for my Rental reimbursement for my rental. $5000. Takes forever.

Driving another GM vehicle would make me extremely nervous. I really don't want to peek at the dashboard for fear that the check engine light will be on.

Oh no. I don't want to go through this flawed process for that reason. I hope you receive your payment soon.

might be! Despite having a single error code, they were never able to identify the issue with the 2022.
If they have a single error code or a tone of them, I wouldn't trust that they could solve the 2024 one.
Their value proposition is eliminated since we don't trust them.
BTW, the 24 has the same configurations as the 22. The exact same.
My only point was that if the 2024 is never diagnosed, you have no idea of why the check engine light is on, which now has you chasing down a replacement. It's America so you're free to do as you please but I'd at least have them attempt to fix it before throwing in the towel. Who's to say the next one doesn't have a check engine light at some point. Then where does the cycle end?

I am not seeking a replacement this time. I want a full refund. If you recall this 2024 is a replacement, so we went through this before with the 2022. We are putting an end to this.
