I need to share my frustrating experience with our 2024 Yukon from GM. After 2 years of dealing with issues in our 2022 Yukon, GM finally replaced it with a 2024 model. Unfortunately, the replacement only lasted 123 miles before breaking down, throwing multiple error codes and triggering the dreaded check engine light.

While GM agreed to buy back the defective 2024 Yukon, the repurchasing process has stretched to a grueling eight weeks, and we are still in the waiting game.

To add insult to injury, GM expects us to foot the bill for a rental car since we are currently without a vehicle. They promise reimbursement, but the reality is, we're left in the lurch, paying insurance for a car parked in one of their dealership lots, all while they continue to receive their scheduled payments.

It's disheartening to see a company not only struggle with producing reliable vehicles but also fail to streamline their processes and retain loyal customers. ‍♂️

I share this story not as a complaint, but as a cautionary tale. I wouldn't want anyone else to endure the frustration and inconvenience we've faced. Let's hope GM takes note and works towards improving their vehicles quality and customer experience.

Thank you.

Is it a matter of finding a suitable replacement for the 2024? I'm kind of shocked that they're repurchasing a 2024 after one warranty claim. Have they diagnosed the problem? It's not uncommon for a vehicle to have multiple error codes stored from a check engine light.

We have been struggling with them for 2 years to fix the 2022. (see this thread: Replace or Repurchase My defective 2022 Yukon) it is a persistent problem they having with these diesel model. Thanks.

So what happened?
We have had 15k miles of trouble free miles. And at least half have been towing a 8000 lb trailer.

Sorry about your luck.

What's the diagnosis for the issues on the 24? I don't think you can blanket statement the 24 being defective is no diagnosis, because you had an issue with your 22.

32k miles on my '22 diesel denali. Only real issue I had was a transmission valve around the 18k mark. Otherwise, great vehicle that I wouldn't trade out.

Like the 22, it has a check engine light with multiple error codes. Nobody is prepared to repeat the of failed trial and error to fix the 22 over two years .

Have you tried bringing either to a different dealer for a better possible result?

With 22 GM got involved with the dealer fairly early on. The dealer was carrying out exactly what the engineers and GM tech had instructed. They made 7 failed attempts to fix it. When this happened again with the 24 , I just said to them we can't afford going through this again; for 2 years the truck cannot stay in their maintenance shops more than it can be with us.
