What would be the reasons to change the housing...it doesn’t come in contact with the gas cap. I would have understood if if the wanted me to change the dinner neck.

You do not have to change the housing if just replacing the fuel cap. The most important part of the cap is the seal and the lip of the filler pipe where it seals. There have been issues with the lip of the filler pipe getting distorted or rusty which can cause a bad seal. Or as others have said you may have a different evap issue.

There have been issues with the lip of the filler pipe getting distorted or rusty which can cause a bad seal. Or as others have said you may have a different evap issue.

the housing may just be changed to retain the plastic strap on the cap, if this is the case you can just drill a small hole in the existing housing and attach the strap if need be

I have now ordered a new ACDelco cap from Rock. I will probably show up in a week or two.
Yesterday wen I was getting fuel, I noticed a new problem. I struggled tho fill the tank. The filling gun keeps stopping. It also sounded like the tank was over pressuring. What would cause that to happen?

If you are getting "PSO's" premature shut off's then you probable having something wrong with the venting system. As the pressure builds in the tank it trips the nozzle to shut off. You may need to drop your tank and blow out all the lines and replace most of the evap system.

Heck yeah! This is how mine and a lot of other peoples started. It starts as a tighten gas cap warning, you buy and oem cap and if that doesn't fix it later on it becomes a large leak, and tanks starts holding pressure, then you start smelling gas vapors after driving and parking, then its hard to fill later the tank farts when you open the gas cap after driving for a bit. The symptoms are in not particular order, but thats more or less how it went for me. I ended up doing both solenoids and charcoal canister that were bad from a leaking transfer case, and or dad overfilling when he used the truck. Overfilling is how these things start, when the pump stops you stop, or you will end up spending 150 bucks to replace evap parts. That or you might have a rusted gas tank where the filler neck, and pump meet.
