Nice, thanks for this vid!
I actually did find the pump seal on RockAuto, it’s out of stock, but has a part number (Dorman 49520), so perhaps I’ll try this first before tearing out to the battery and replacing the tank.
Realized the windshield fluid reservoir is leaking on my 2004 1500.
I marked where it’s dripping from. Looks like the connection to the tank.
Can I get away with just replacing the grommet?
I’m thinking that since the 2020+ 2500HD trucks are heavier, even the dual piston brakes gotta be designed with better stopping power.
I’m thinking of just biting the bullet and seeing if they will fit… Maybe I just need some spacers for the mounting bolts.
If you’re referring to the 1500 trucks, then yes.
However, most NBS (00-06) 1500 trucks came with dual piston rears, which are arguably better than the subsequent calipers, so a refresh on the rears is all you need anyway.
Keep in mind you’ll need 20”+ rims in order to fit over the big...
As I’m sure you’re all aware of the big brake swap possible to simply bolt on the larger rotors and 4 piston calipers from 2019-2021 Silverado onto 1999-2014 1500 trucks…
But, I’m wondering if a similar upgrade exists for the 2500 trucks?
I believe the 2019+ Silverado/Sierra 2500 trucks also...
You can keep the Magneride (it would actually be cheaper too), it just takes a little extra work to get the brackets to extend the height adjustment rod and wiring. Either way, depending on how high you go, you might need longer sway bar links as well.
Bilstein are nice, but they are a...
Ah okay, ya you’d just want to assure that the amount of lift (from the spring spacers in the rear and torision keys cranked in front) matches the amount extension by the shock extenders.
So, the only difficult part (if you want to retain magneride) will be to manage the magneride height...
I got the PowerStop drilled/slotted rotors, along with the PowerStop Extreme Severe-Duty Truck & Tow brake pads… and this combo is by far the best brakes I’ve ever had on any truck in my entire life.
I’ve tried Detroit Axle, EBC (Green Stuff and Yellow Stuff)… none come close.
I’ve put almost...
I haven’t measured the center bore of these rims yet, but will do so when I take them off to install the spacers I ordered (which is what sent me down this rabbit hole to begin with). I’ll measure my center bore of the hub too.
I would prefer everything sits extra tight, especially if adding...
Hey btw, just spoke to Lenny from Motorsport-tech.com (they make Bora spacers for 30yrs and measure everything precisely). He said that although the specs all over the Internet do say 78.1 or 78.3, if you use a micrometer to measure the actual GM hubs… They are exactly 77.8! o_O
Apparently most...
Indeed, I see many sources specify either 78.1 or 78.3 center bore size for the NBS 1500 trucks… but, nobody else lists it as 77.8
I’m rather surprised at the level of discrepancy here, usually center bore size specs for wheels seem universally accurate.
