    Is the radiator fan working correctly? if u already changed the thermostat and coolant level is good, the radiator fan would be the next thing i look at. I pulled numerous 5000 lb trailers in 100+ weather with no issue.

    Shopping for a capable tow vehicle.

    Yea i have a 5.3 with 3.73 gears. It does decent towing a car around. Pulled my fj40 2400 miles across country. Nothing to brag about though. I have a 4500 pound camper and it doesn't like it very much i guess because of the wind resistance. The truck pulls fine just the 5.3 is a little weak.

    Didn't realize the 6.0 still had a fan clutch is 2007. My 2007 5.3 only has a electric fan. How did u check the clutch? I would just replace the fan clutch anyway. That is going to affect your temp at idle. I replaced the fan clutch on my brothers truck with an oem for the dealer a few years...

    I do not have my tahoe here to look at it but i think there is a universal joint in the steering shaft a few inches above the rack. I would look at that first. Cant say I have ever seen a rack and pinion with play in it. Not questioning you but did you change all 4 tie rods or just the outer...

    Do a compression test on that cyl. Prob will not even take 5 min. You can rent one from the parts store if you do not have one. If the compression is good, one easy trick is to swap out the coil with another cyl and see if the problem follows. Just because it has spark does not mean it cant be...
