Not meaning to dredge up an old thread (that has old title), but just adding an update to my earlier post. I bought the HID kit from KBCARSTUFF over a month ago and it works perfect...not one complaint. I bought the Philips 4300 upgrade bulbs, rest of kit is the standard XenonDepot kit, with the Canbus adapters (they act as your capacitors also - confirmed with KBCARSTUFF tech guy). I was afraid to write this (Murphy's Law says that now I'll have an issue!), but given that everything has worked perfectly, I am hopeful they will keep working great for long time. If anything fails I'll come back...

Quick question did any of you who upgraded need to realign the projectors or notice you get flashed by oncoming traffic?

Those who used the extreme HID 35w, did you use the relay? I haven't installed yet but plugged one in without the relay and it worked OK.

What have people done about the auto lights - anyone managed to get the DRL harness from gen5diy to work with HID?

Thanks

RikMN, I've always checked after putting in HID's, measured and adjusted as needed. With these truck sitting up a bit higher I try to be respectful of others... We have all seen the dumbass who didn't and it is annoying AND a waste of the investment if the light isn't hitting the road where it is needed.

Xenondepot.com is the same company and has the canbus option shown.

I ended up ripping them out. After a couple of weeks one of the ballasts went. When I got the replacement and installed them all in again, the other one started flickering. At that point I couldn't be bothered with the hassle so just took them out. I was using the relays as well as the canbus.

I later went with LED, but they just flickered too. So I am back to halogen bulbs (Silverstar).

Good luck.

Xtreme kit, canbus, phillips bulbs. You can use code 4thcivic to get $50 off plus canbus for free. That code is old so if it does not work you may have to search for a new one.

4 month update:

After many night time driving hours including a trip from TX to NY and back, this kit is still doing extremely well for me. No flickering or failures to turn on. I'm using the philips bulbs without the canbus. I'm actually using two separate relay harnesses though which allowed me to independently wire the bulbs and ballasts from each other. After I got the mess of wires properly managed and hidden, I siliconed the hell out everything.

Final thoughts so far:

Extremely impressed. I had major doubts after I ordered the kit and found this thread. Decided to try them anyway and have had zero issues. Not to mention they're extremely bright.
