After having my single in/out magnaflow for a few years, I've gotten used to the sound and am looking to liven things up again. What is the easiest way to run a true dual setup and about how much would you all expect it to cost?

Depends, I am going to do the same soon I hope. You can have them run pipes from the Manifolds into your stock cats and pipes all the way out into single in and single out mufflers.

Or, Buy 2 new "High Flow Cats" (Really Straight through design) and have them weld them up and run dual pipes all the way out and into single in/ single out mufflers.

I would suggest buying your own parts though. Be cheaper to have them install it. If you buy your Mufflers/ Cats, then look at $350-$400 for install. Some shops will do it cheaper then others, So I would ride around to different shops and let them look at it and give you a quote.

Here is the place I buy all my exhaust from- http://www.performanceexhaustplus.com

'true' duals in a sense is dual pipes from manifold to tailpipe. Which means new mandrel bent pipe, new muffler (unless you have two now) and at least one new cat. It will be pretty expensive. Then, both side (if equipped) will have to be 3" since your one factory side is already 3". So you may have actually too much pipe, for too small of a motor.

Can you explain what you mean by "Too much pipe for a small motor"? Could you possibly 3" pipe to the mufflers then a reducer to a 2.5 In/ Out muffler top keep some back pressure?

you want some back pressure. On a stock or even semi modded 5.3, 2.5" pipe per side is even a tad high. 2.25" is perfect. OEM is 3" to feed the whole motor now, so 3" per side, is over kill.

Ok, So when they run the duals what should I ask them to do? Run a reducer once they get the first pipe bolted to the manifold?

Should Straight through CATS be ok in a 2.25 Size? And then as far as mufflers should I get a 3" In/out or 2.5" or 2.25"?

Well after a long time of looking at my options, I ditched my single in, dual out magnaflow for a flowmaster 40 and couldn't be happier. Pics and videos soon to come.

If your stuck on duals, I'd run no larger than 2.5" with the stock motor, maybe even 2.25" like blueflamed suggested. Lose too much backpressure and you'll move the powerband slightly higher and lose some of your off-idle tq.
