Bad news friend just text me and told me they are using the same transfer case in new build truck let see what happens with the 2015.5 . he works in Toledo power plant that is suck.It is a programming error. When you get yours in. Engage the Auto4wd, turn the truck off. Then restart it and try to put it back into 2wd. If you get the message they can reset it before you take delivery. That way you will know if you have the problem or not.
Mileage does not matter with this issue. Its when you engage it and if you turn the truck off or not.
They will fix it. Heck, you got a new ride out of the deal.

Have driven the truck 200 miles in Auto since the new software download - no sign of the "Service 4WD" message. However, I do still hear the high pitched electrical "pinging" type sound from the transmission switch while in Auto.
Will keep driving in Auto a bit longer to see if the fix is legit then eventually go back to service to get the noise remedied. Just another nuisance from my brand new $75,000 GMC vehicle.

Well....I had the message come up on 9/2 and immediately went to the dealer. They reprogrammed everything and ensured me that was the needed fix. I drove off and everything seemed fine. I through the truck back in 2wd after a couple of days as I didn't see the need to be in auto all the time....
Fast forward to today.
We had severe rain and flooding this AM so I drove in Auto 4wd and I know it engaged because I hit some real shady spots. Came back out for lunch to the "SERVICE 4WD" message. I drove directly to my dealer and explained that for $70k i should be able to use my 4wd whenever i want without issue. This was the 2nd time in a little over a month and with winter and snow coming I don't feel confident in the truck. They assured me they would look into it and gave me a Yukon off the lot to drive for the day. I got a call an hour later and was sure they just reprogrammed again but this time they said the transfer cases SENSOR was bad and needed to be replaced. It won't be here till monday but they assured me this would fix it for good. We shall see

This is a 10 minutes job or lt may less don't call just drive to the dealer they will relearn the transfer case in not time.I have a 2015 Tahoe I bought in March 2014. I have 8247 miles on it. I had driven on part paved and part dirt road yesterday while in auto wd. I parked it and left it in auto 4WD. I waited to see if it would go back to 2WD once I hit payment again and it never switched. I turned it to 2WD manually and it never kicked in and the "Service 4WD" came on. I had to drive 180 miles with it in 4H to get back home. Waited till this morning and the light was still on. It still is in 4H. Having to call dealer tomorrow.
PS - I already took it in for a recall on the transfer case 2 weeks ago.

There are a few threads in different areas of the forum regarding the "Service 4WD" issue that many of us are dealing with on our 2015 Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban trucks. To date, there is no fix available and owners are just being advised to drive their vehicles in 2WD mode until told otherwise.
This is a clear safety issue and I am discussing it with a well-known automotive weblog that will help get the word out to current and potential owners of these vehicles.
So...if you have experienced the "Service 4WD" issue please chime in briefly as I am curious just how many of us there are here (and on the way) and it will help with documentation.
Thank you,
Scott
Well have to call to fallow my GM claim they will fix or we want another car is the law.I am having the same issues. Have had to bring in my new 2015 Denali twice so far. Finally they told me that there is no fix for this problem. Cannot use the AWD system. It's either 2wd or 4wd. One of the reasons I purchased this suv was for the AWD option. Now I am told not to use it. THe service manager told me that there is no fix. The Sales department told me that GMC is working on it? Who do I believe. I am so disappointed on such a beautiful truck.

Please let me know if you hear anything from anyone. Having same issues.

I want to know if then rest of the guys are calling to GM too.
The idea is put GM under pressure this way they will fix or replace the transfer case.I would call if it means getting a new vehicle that works. With no fix in line or found the 2015.5i wouldn't even be an option.
They to slow [emoji222]BTW - it's not all of tthem . I've switched from auto to 2wd probably 100+ times without issue. I can't believe they can't figure this one out.
