Yesterday I installed a new passenger side license plate lamp housing that I purchased directly from the dealer. Freaking $27 for a piece of plastic that was made in China - what a shame.

Pulled the valve covers to find that I'm the owner of a sub 100k mile Tahoe that needs new heads because of the F'd up Castech fail. This is my first GM and I've only had the thing for 3000 miles too.

What do you mean by Castech fail?

Thanks Physh.

Would it be prudent to take off the valve cover and inspect my truck for the Castech symbol, or should I only worry about it if/when my truck begins to experience coolant loss?

So far I'm at 122k with no problems so far - would that mean that my truck probably doesn't have Castech heads?

Pull the VC and look at the oil. You have to pull the rocker bar to see the casting stamp. Just google Castech heads for plenty of pics of what to look for. It will be very apparent if you have an issue.

Here is my junk.

All factory speakers replaced with 2 way Kenwoods, also put in a Kicker hideaway Sub w/amp build in. Sounds great! This evening replacing all headlight and park light housings with Spyder brand. All bulbs are Silverstars, and the daytime running lamps are LEDS.

Took my 01 to the local dealer about trading it in on a 05 z71 tahoe. While filling out papers for financing the manager took mine for a test drive and the damn thing stalled out and wouldn't start again. Have not had a single hiccup with it whaysoever and can only think it's the fuel pump which I had replaced last year. After sitti g for a few hours i went out and tried to start it it idled for juat under a minute then began spitting and sputtering rpms dropped and stalled out.So had it towed to my mechanic who is out of town until Monday.

Hopefully you sealed them with silicone on the seams before installing...

Washed, waxed, and detailed the inside finally. Been sitting outside for about 2 weeks while waiting to close on my first house. Don't have things hung on the walls but at least the Denali is clean ;)

Will be registering mine on Monday, but I bought 2 pairs of 6.5" kickers for the doors today. Those should sound good with my new pioneer deck I got last week. I'll be putting it all in sometime later in the week. It's gonna be a loud system by the time I'm done installing my subs!

Finally got around to rebuilding and installing then programming the cluster I picked up with a trans temp gauge. Then took a look at the recently stationary drivers seat. Seems one of the forward/back drive cables destroyed itself. Not sure what happened, everything moves fine so its not like it bound up. Oh well. Off to see if I can get just a cable.

I love my Truck!

I just got back from a 2000 mile trip from north Georgia to West Palm Beach, FL. Then went to Ft. Lauderdale, then Miami, and on to Tampa, and Clearwater, then back up to *******, GA. 10 days, 2000 miles, wife killed the battery twice(by leaving the halo lights in the grill on), towed 3 boats(not all at the same time) a Yakama roof luggage box and 2 bikes on a bike rack(one of which got stolen), with four people inside. Most of the travels at 85-90 mph. Did I mention I love my truck!! Just thought I would get that out there

Oh and how do I load pics from my phone? Thx

Got my R1 Concepts rotors installed, Raybestos calipers, ceramic pads, & Goodridge lines installed. Just need to bleed everything & polish my wheels since they look like craaaaap...

Also, pulled off my roof rack & prepping for installation of my Escalade rack. Pulled the vent caps too...going to fill them & paint to match.

Drove the old the girl to local drag strip last Wednesday and gave her a good beating, which she took like a champ. Best run all stock 130k stock wheels was 15.8 at 86. Now that I have my base line time for some upgrades

Greased up the slip yoke on my 2WD rig. When I pulled the driveshaft, the slip yoke was completely dry. I was experiencing slow acceleration from stops, squeaking over bumps, and stuttering over bumps. All that is solved by adding some grease ($5 for a whole tube of Lucas Red and Tacky). Drives like new!

Finally got around to installing my new Spyder Headlights and turn signals, everything went great till I got to the drivers side turn signal, I couldnt get it in, then I noticed they sent me two right sides for my turn signals! Now it's time to go thru the red tape to get another one sent to me. grrrrrr
