X2 what Bellis and Soulsea said.

Gas and insurance will be two additional car payment amounts on these lovely trucks, esp with insurance costs as a young man driving a 4x4.

I couldn't fathom having two cars at 17. I was lucky to barely afford one. So I'd say that just being in a position to contemplate this decision at your age is pretty cool.

1. NEVER finance when a cosingor is required unless you're married to that person
2. I'd personally never want a bill for two car notes
3. You'll enjoy it more if you can just write a check for it

As it has been said already, it's not with the debt. Don't do it until you can afford it.

Btw, the relationship between your monthly payment and loan principle doesn't seen right. I could write your an amortization schedule in MSExcel and you could use Goal Seek to figure out a realistic monthly payment or loan principle.

No, no, and hell no! Co-signing is a disaster just waiting to happen.

I have to respectfully disagree with both of and agree a little bit.

A parent cosigning for a child is great way to help the child build credit BUUUUUUT the parent should discuss the payment, maintenance, insurance, etc. with the child as to see if they can afford it. My parents cosigned a few car loans with me in my younger years with no disasters and the result was I have perfect credit as do they. It is all about teaching responsibility which usually comes from your upbringing. I completely agree that at 17 having two car notes would be foolish and yes writing a check for an automobile would be ideal but most people can not do that.

^^^X2. My parents did the same and it helped me build credit at a young age. But I'd definitely stick with one car. Two cars at 17 is kind of absurd unless you are a super baller :imo:

Like everyone said...sell the charger and get a Tahoe. Mine is retired from the Border Patrol. It is a 08 LS 4x4. I added a number of goodies to it. (I made a seperate build post on it). I would not hesitate to buy another from the guy I bought it from. I had talked with him about a year in advance and let him know what I wanted. Right now he has a number of 07's and some 2wd 08's. My good friend just bought a 08 4x4 from him. He took a bus down to the dealership and drove the Tahoe back.
Not sure where your at but if your in the Chicago area here is his web address... www.chicagomotors.com.
He does has some nearby competition and that address is www.asiamotorsinc.com. Right now they have a black 08 4x4 with carpet flooring and third row with 87k for 18995. However I have seen Asia motors around 2 to 3k higher then chicagomotors for the same type of Tahoe.

You should really look at getting credit established.

Wait till you move out Gzes and have to get utilities for your apartment/house..and see how well the "cash is king" works out for you when the utility companies slap you with a $300 deposit just to turn your water/power/gas on.

Just sayin.

Ok well technically I wouldn't have two car payments...I talked to my dad and if I was to get a tahoe my dad would take back over the payments on the charger and technically would be his car again, even though he rarely would drive or drove it... And I'm going to college locally, so moving out isn't a big priority or necessary at the moment I probably won't for 2 years.. and I have been looking at that asia motors and chicago motors actually, they seem to have a big selection, my only concern is about getting a car with like 70k miles, lets say figuratively if I went down to chicago and wanted to buy a tahoe (I'm in michigan) What steps would I take? How would I have a mechanic go through it to make sure all is good? And would I get the loan before or after I go to get the car, or is that what getting pre approved is for?

and p.s. as far as me even thinking about getting two cars at this age...It's not that I'm overly wealthy (I'm deff not), The majority of my college is paid for, and the only other thing I pay for monthly is my phone...Just when I wan't something really bad, I tend to work really hard until I can get it lol so it may be next march or maybe two years but I'm getting a hoe!

If you are serious on getting one from chicago motors....give me a pm and ill give you a hand. I know the owner now, quite well and ww can tell him what you are looking for. I can also discuss my purchase from him and what I told him I wanted when I started to look.
