So I am going to be painting the front bumper of my Tahoe to black and got to thinking about my running boards. What do you think about Rhino-Lining/Linex ing the assist steps? Would that look okay?

What do you think?

paint them both. If you had mud tires the rhino lining would be cool but with it lowered on 24s id keep it smooth and shinny. But that is just my 2 cents. Something different never hurts

I say do it. I have never liked those front bumpers. Plus, it does not match your theme.

If that's the truck in your sig, I say it would flow nicely,do it!!

Essentially <--- it's already a hair away from being a tahoe "z71 replica." I don't mean to offend you, but your reverse engineering the truck minus the flares which are still on. Badges removed, side moldings removed, etc etc. I truly understand the theme and If that completes the look to you, that YOU are trying to achieve, I say go for it. Doesn't matter what people say anyway. Plus I dig the BoB action.

Original intention when I bought the truck was to leave it bone stock, just like my white 07 Z71.

I then stumbled upon this forum and all you bastages are making me mod crazy!!!

Had I known then what I am doing now I would have just saved $1500 and bought an LT.

Our body shop has been fairly busy so I haven't been able to get my truck in there but I am hoping to do it soon and I think for now I will just paint the running boards since I can always Line-X over the paint.

I say paint from bumper and I would powdercoat the side bars. Just those things will be getting beat up with stones. So if you paint them then you have to worry about chipping. Powdercoating is a lot thicker.

I think powdercoating is the way I am going to go on my nerf bars since it is more durable than just painting it. The main reason I was contemplating Line-X was because of rocks and debris, but with powdercoat I can still get a gloss finish.

I think if I were raised and not lowered I would do the Line-X for that rugged look.

Plasti dipping the running boards

So after some thought I figured what the hell, lets Plasti the running boards.
Z71 running boards are super easy to remove, 3 15mm bolts on each side and they come right off and the black end pieces just slip off.

there are too many tabs inside the metal board to remove the plastic black footstep so I will tape some of that off and get to town!

Heading to home depot for some plasti dip and will post pics in a bit.
