96 5.7 Cam Question

I'm trying to find out the biggest cam i could run without messing up the computer.....I heard im very limited to what i can ran...I know either way gonna need some kind of tune or maybe a programmer if ones availible..


Also any other good mods....currently have flowmaster exhaust...K&N intake , msd coil taylor wires.

Check cam manufacturers for a street cam that is a computer friendly. You can look at the ht383e drop in for the specs on the newer cam GM put in it.

You'll need a tune with any cam swap I bet ... should get one even without a cam. :D

Any good programmers or chips you know of ? i know being obd1 theres not as much availible

I have Canadian built truck....yeah sorry was thinking of my other yukon its 94

I just putt in the closest cam I could find for my yukon 5.7 vin r I I still needed a computer reprogramming.... for me even that small of a difference made for some fuel adjustment and advance....

The "Tune" will net you as much or more performance than the cam swap. No matter which cam you choose you wont tap the full potential of the cam until you have the computer programmed to take advantage of it. By planing on the tune at the same time as the swap you can look at cams that fit the profile of what you want to get out of the truck vs what will "work" with a very de-tuned stock computer.
