Tranny Tech Needed-4L60E Code PO700

[Busted Knuckles]

According to an Innove Diagnostic tool and my Haynes Manual It's something to do with the Trans Control Module .
I've had it to the Dealer Ship several times . Spent close to $600.00 on Labor , New EGR , PCM , Crank Sensor in the last 2 weeks . I feel they're "Milking" me , and I'm drying up.
I don't want keep doing this .
I've found this complete Valve Body/Switches?Updates (?)/ Towing Shift Kit.
I've just become fed up with this the trnny feels OK . Shifts out fine down shifts , and the OD works fine .
But after 178+k I figure the spool valves / Bores sre sloppy and bores are worn . So replace the whole Shootin' Match and be done with it ,

Do you see any problems with my reasoning ?

Trans Control Module code is the generic code for transmissions when a bad signal has been sent to the module. More often than not it is a speed sensor that has gone out, or has started to go out.

Why did you have to buy a new EGR, PCM, and Crank Sensor? Did the dealership tell you those were the codes that were coming up?

Yeah the PCM/CS/EGR went "Tango Uniform" according to the Tech and Service Writer .
I dunno , I wish I could afford a Quality Diagnostic Code Reader . I HATE having to pay others to do the work !!
I do know how to turn wrenches but my specialty was Classic Car Resto , Heavy Vehicles . By the time it was necessary to need $1,000's for Diagnotic Tools I was on my way out for health problems . I haven't worked a paycheck job in 13 years (and no, it ain't nice) .
Being all beat up from heavy vehicles in the Military and as a civilian it now takes me 3 times as long as when I was working .

For the future, if you dont want to buy a code reader, you can rent one like most tools from your local parts store. Thats how I got mine. went in to O'Reilly, rented one, hated it, tried another one they had, liked it, called them up and had them order me one. It isnt the best code reader in the world, but for $200 I can scan all OBDII systems and most gm, ford, chrysler, honda OBDI systems.

It doesnt go to in depth, but it gives you the codes and the translation into english. You can also upgrade them down the road to perform live system reads.

I basically use mine for an on the road diagnostic when something happens. I have 2 massive scanners at my shop.

Lucky Dog !!!!! It's $73.00 a whack on the GM anilyzer(sp) . I've spent close to $300.00 just for that and NO KISS afterwards

I do believe I was getting milked by the dealership (pisses em' off when I go and get the parts and install them myself ) . I didn't even make it 10 miles before the light was back on after the PCM replacement . So I just went to O'Reillys and had them plug in their Diagnostic Tool and I got the PO700 and PO157 O2 Sensor Low Voltage .
I just spent almost $300.00 for 4 new O2's and a flange gasket . Changing them out with the truck on stands was impossible (13 years and rusted in to boot) . Then for a top-off I had to cut the flange bolts with a cut off wheel ,and drill the bolt heads out . They wouldn't budge with an air hammer, tight little turds .
O'Reillys have some nice readers (Innova) around $230.00 that are upgradeable online ,not only OBD II but I think OBDI . The next one for $300+ has functions for Roryrental Vehicles . Since I'm not in the trade anymore makes no sense . I also have the light lit up for ABS . \

These Valve Bodies on EBay list them as updated and modified to delete the 1870 Code . Any Idea what that's all about ?

PS . Austin , eh ? Damn , I was there from 82-83 great town for entertainment !
