Clicking from passenger side front end

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a 2015 GMC Yukon SLE with the 5.3L motor 4WD. After some highway driving I heard clicking on rotation from the front end passenger side.

Jacked it up, shook the wheel with my hands at 9-3 and 12-6. Didn’t see any play in either hub and passenger side hub appears newer than driver. I replaced the CV’s and the joint was shot and sloppy inside the inner boot on passenger side.

After I put my new CV’s from advance auto on, which I matched to the parts I had and seem to fit like OEM, the front end still makes noise. When I slow down it starts clicking, and when I turn right sharply enough it will click as well.

Everything seems tight when I jacked it up again, turned wheel with the front end unweighted. So it seems to only make the noise when the front end is seeing the normal load of the trucks weight.

I will try and update with some videos of the vehicle and what it’s doing for reference. If anyone has spent time chasing noises in their front end on this model and has any advice I’d much appreciate it…

sounds like the right hub.
but inspect your brakes carefully, be sure the pad clips are good and in place, sometimes a little pressure from turning etc can make the brakes make noise, like the pad sensor hitting.
use a flashlight and check the clearances, also while you have the front off the ground spin the wheels and listen should be pretty much silent if you hear a tick-tick noise or grinding that's usally the hub bearings going out, even if it does not have play

Thanks for advice. Maybe the CV going bad on that side damaged the new looking hub assembly. Still haven’t taken the rotor off. I’ll have to thoroughly check brakes, clearances and all like you said.

If I rule out the brakes, and I just replaced the CV’s, then does that mean it has to be a bad hub by process of elimination? If I hear the noise most on rotation, and all that’s rotating when noise happens is a new CV, the hub bearing, rotor and wheel, I’d think it would be the hub bearing at that point….

Any particular reason that the front diff has been ruled out?

Does it happen in 2HI, or is this being run in AUTO?

UPDATE

I’m pretty confident that it’s the hubs so I ordered a pair from Detroit axle. Should be here in 2 days and hopefully that solves my issue. Thorough brake inspection still required though….thanks to everyone for the help and advice.

sometimes we gotta buy what we can afford but those detroit axle hubs might not last very long. If you were not aware they are the dollar store brand lol
