Brake Lines

Around a week ago my gf was driving the Tahoe, and while braking a brake line popped. Thankfully she was able to drive it home. I knew it was a brake line, but I'm tired of messing with it--plus I don't have any time. So we dropped it off to a local mechanic. I don't trust any of the local guys. In my experience they're all thieves--some worse then others.
So this guy calls today and says al the lines need to be replaced because they're all rotted. A guy a few years ago replaced the rear lines, but I'm going with it. $800 to replace them all. Seems expensive to me, and he says he can't buy them pre-bent--I know they make them--and he has to make them all, which i know isn't really hard to do. Really pisses me off. Really I'm just venting right now. I hate when these guys talk to me like I don't have a clue. Assholes.

Did you ask what type of material was going to be used for lines.

He's gonna use the nickel plated lines. Im in Jersey, so it's a common thing for the brake lines to corrode. Lots of salt on the roads during winter.
It's so hard to find an honest mechanic nowadays.

i've blown a brake line 4 times, two different times was when my wife was driving while i was deployed
each time i only repaired the 1 line, until the most recent time in which i went in and did the rest of them

sucks but sounds smart, while you're in there do it all especially living there

Agreed, but you know how it is--always happens at the worst time.
