2015 Yukon SLT 117k CEL starts blinking 25 miles after oil change and Valvoline mini tune up. Currently 3/4 tank of E85, could that be the issue.

Valvoline is the problem…
1st yhing pop the hood and check oil, look over everything and see if anything jumps out at you. Id check air filter cover…
Got a scanner? Plug it in and check… then drive that mfer right back there and tell them to fix whatever it is they did…

Oil looks clean as it should. I don’t have my scanner with me :( :( but going back to place that did the oil change is a given. I got somebody coming with a scanner while I wait for a tow. Thinks it sounds like a misfire

What is a mini tune up

How old are the spark plugs. Any fuel smell at all?

It’s a product valvoline developed to clean the motor, fuel system, fuel injectors and apparently cause multiple misfires. They add one part to engine before the oil change, run it drain and refill. They add one other part is added to gas tank.

Shop said there’s a corresponding code P228C and they have to do a deep dive smh. Fuel pressure is dropping out. P228C seems to be one of the rarer codes with only 1 hit using the search feature.

Looks like I need a high pressure to maybe fix the issue. They said it could also be the cam but they need to open the engine to see.

Authorized the repair on the fuel pump and will be selling or trading her once she’s running again. I’ve never had such a catastrophic failure on a perfect running car. I’ve never even had a CEL in about 30k miles of ownership until it started flashing last week. It’s a pretty ride but she is some kinda crazy  Thanks for reading my saga.

Yea direct injection kind of sucks. More over complicated bs to save 2 drips of fuel over the lifetime of a vehicle.

I agree with @PG01 100%. Those shops are a recipe for disaster.

I'm chuckling while writing this though.....what's a "mini-tune up?" Definitely sounds quick lube-esk. LOL

Depending on what it consists of, I may just start slinging oil and filters again. With a side order of mini tune-ups to go.....

It wasn’t a shop it was an up until now, reputable used car dealership. A mini tune is a fancy name for an engine flush and injector cleaning. There’s actually another company that sells tune up in a bottle :)

Got my truck back. Only took a couple lifters, a few rocker arms, some rods, some spark plugs, a HPFP, a set of injectors and some fuel rails, a valve job and she’s right as rain far I can tell. Not sure what to make of this situation but it’s one for the books.
