Upon replacement of the power liftgate struts do they need programmed?

No issue on my install. Youtube had some great install videos. easy peasy...less than an hour. Use GM part for the win.

If you purchase them from RockAuto.com or GMPartsDirect.com, the 2 together should cost you less than $150, including freight. Please note that these struts are pressurized, and as such, they are shipped with a HazMat label, thus jacking the freight price WAY up.

I just installed a set of Amazon specials on a coworker's Escalade. They work, but do not work nearly as smoothly as factory ones. The tailgate almost slams closed because it can barely control the weight.

Mine slams closed. Don’t know if that is the way it was when new or not. Seems a little harsh for my liking. I open and close mine probably about 20 times a day. So at 120k miles, thinking I may just swap them out.
