I can't get my arms around any 0 weight oil, but 0w40 just sounds like a chemical nightmare. Maybe a shortage of the needed chemical "worms" that thicken up the base to that extent when heated? Why not good old 10w40?

Meanwhile, this limo was sitting in front of the service department during my visit yesterday…

10W40 would be fine depending on where you live/ what climate you're driving in.

If you live in the great white north where temperatures get to -40, they you need the 0W stuff, if like me, you live in south Texas where people absolutely loose their **** if white stuff ever falls from the sky, then you'd be fine with 10W.

I have all the numbers off of that plate. Do you know how to decode those plate numbers?
Yes, you can post the number here.
Here is my new engine number, day 142 2024

Yessir we can only get it in 5 gallon jugs or quarts at this moment and it's Mobil-1
The market will sort this out. My GMC dealer said about 40% of the V8 he sells are 6.2’s. So, when the demand for oil is sufficient, dealers will be able to purchase 55gal Drums. Mobil’s web site says they sell 0W-40 in 55gal drums.

Mobil has three 0W-40 oils and they are all DexosR approved. Mobil1 SuperCar, Mobil1 FS, and Mobil1 ESP.

I believe the P/N GM specified in the recall maps to SuperCar. But, if all three are DexosR approved, all could be used.

Would bet Penzoil and Ashland (valvolline) will jump in as well. 577k vehicles, if they average 2 oil changes a year, that’s 4 gal per vehicle, so around 2.2M gallons of 0W-40 annually for the next 8-10 years.

On a little road trip with my 6.2 Tahoe and man the more I drive it the more I like it. I guess they are great until they aren’t. I hope most of this group experiences years of trouble free driving! I’m 6 months and 5k miles in including a 2k trip with 6 passengers, a big dog, and a 24’ Trailer. It’s crazy to think that this rig that seems so good could grenade on me! Good luck team L87.

My 2021 6.2L is at 62K miles and no issues. Odds are favoring it's OK and it's a pain to go into the dealer so I'm wondering....

If I wait on going in for the recall, say 6 months or a year or 2 years, is there loss of 'recall replacement option' if it fails while driving? How does this work / is there a time limit to respond to the recall?

recalls do have an expiration date. However for safety recalls they are usually lengthy in time period.

This recall is bs. I have two that fit the requirements. Both are comming up on needing an oil change. I don’t want to drop 150$ on each just to get the letter for the recall oil change.
