I believe someone posted the terms of the 150k mile warranty awhile back. But this thread is too long for me to go try to find it. However, I would assume if your current engine gets replaced under that special warranty, then that special warranty would NOT apply to the new replacement engine as well. But I’m sure someone on here can probably offer a better answer to that question.

Ya that one makes the most sense to me. Oh well, life goes on. We shall see whether or not the pico test proves its worth over the long run.

Oh and here’s what the letter says:

And here’s my completed recall paperwork:

Just got the call saying they ran the test twice just make sure. Zero knock etc. Getting the oil changed now. Warranty on the engine will get extended to 150k.
Just out of curiosity, does the GM owners site and/or the app already reflect the 150k mile special warranty for your vehicle?

Nothing in the app as of yet. I was told by the service manager that GM will update that detail once all of the info gathered yesterday was received and finalized by them.

Dropped mine off this morning, as the recall had opened up last week. They called me at 11:45am that it passed the picoscope test, now full of 0W-40, new oil cap, and a new oil filter. I just picked it up and I asked how much future oil changes would be costing, they said about $30 more than the 0W-20 ones had been.

I just called the dealership I bought my 24 6.2L from and they are telling me there is no remedy yet....for my vehicle?? I see some of y'all got a letter but I have not. The dealership says they cannot help me until I get a letter? My build date is May of 24 so maybe I'm on the borderline as to whether I get a fix or not? But, even if I don't I would think I am entitled to the 10yr 150K warranty??????

Do you have to get the future oil changes at the dealer? Any shop with an invoice? Do it yourself?

Read the last couple sentences of the “extended warranty”. This is very well written from the legal perspective. Better than nothing but clearly limited to bottom end only and biased to GM. It also says everything else is covered by the original engine and power train warranty.

I’m not sure what outcome I would prefer when my Tahoe gets inspected. Passing inspection might be the best as I am not sure I want my engine replaced at the dealership. Depending on the technician, it might be the first time he ever installed an engine, or maybe you get lucky and a real experienced technician who will do it better than the factory.
As Clint would say “Well do you feel lucky?”

I don’t think the odds are in our favor :)

I think what he is saying is, the recommended oil for his engine will now be 0W-40, and so it means that every oil change will cost him a little more - GM is not footing the bill for the more expensive oil going forward, whether you get it changed at a GM dealership or elsewhere. It's just an unfortunate consequence of having one of these engines that "passed" inspection but is still technically at risk, and therefore covered by the special warranty. But someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

It is my understanding, that if you check on GM's web site under support --> is there a recall on my vehicle, and it shows "Incomplete" not "Incomplete, Remedy Not Available" then the dealer is good to go to do the procedure.
Mine goes in tomorrow, and it shows as above (This is a screen shot of the results of checking for recall on GMC.com for my VIN.)
On my GM App I saw that originally.
When I clicked on it last week I got this after hitting the recall tab on the information page.

For whatever reason, I think the "Incomplete. Remedy not available" status only shows up on the GM website, not in the app. For my Tahoe, I believe I see exactly what you showed in the app. But on the website, I see this:

Previously when I hit the recall tab I got the recall and remedy no available. This was a different screen when I hit the recall tab last week. The service guy behind the counter was familiar with the procedure and told me it would be done. It was the service manager who over ruled and I could tell the guy behind the counter was “just following orders” when he apologized.

Think this is the first week that my dealer is doing this and they are being very careful. Can’t say I blame them as someone will eventually go postal, customer or management. This is a sketchy situation no matter how you look at it!

Kudos to my dealer!

I just got a call from them apologizing for the mixup. They said they will call me as soon as they get this figured out and let me know when I can bring it in for inspection. They also told me they would have my Tahoe detailed as a courtesy for my time.
Thought this was pretty cool!

Ok, but I just want to know if the dealer is making the recall effected trucks come to "dealer only" for their future oil changes.....or they lose there coverages.

I couldn't get my airbag fixed until I got a letter stating they had a remedy, even though other trucks had the recall done for over a year. They staggered the recall due to the sheer volume of trucks involved. Not sure if they are doing that here.

See Magnason-Moss Warranty act...can't do that, can only require you to meet the maintenance schedule with the specified fluid. Can't force you to do it at their place.

What if you do your own oil change? I assume that's what is really being asked. You might not be a certified mechanic (generally speaking) but you have always changed your own oil. Can GM use that against you to get out of a warranty claim?
