yes sorry i have been swamped recently, here we are right now, motor is in, i am working through the wiring, not rushing anything. Also I am currently waiting on some hoses, and other parts before i can completely button it up. With the heat settling in here over the next week or so progress may be a bit slow.

Quick update, have not moved much closer on the Tahoe over the last month, spent most it traveling for work. I did have to move another project into the shop for a bit, but i got that one done.

Had to spin the Tahoe around, and put a wheel seal in a 75 year old tractor.

Got some pressure on the sucker! Great ingenuity! Did the flange make it with bending?

Alright, i am back at it.

Replace power steering hose, install Drivers manifold and plug wires

AC Comp installed, and belts routed.

Starter and drivers side Manifold going in hopefully tonight. Then i will be starting to reassemble the front end. I still have to get my injectors cleaned and flow tested, and the manifold will go on.

Getting closer I can see the light at end of the Tunnel.

Sure a shame to cover up that good looking Chevy orange and black with all the modern day frufraw. Do you live down South, in the no rust region? Good looking machine and great project.

Agreed these newer vehicles cover up everything. I live in the Central US, we have a fair amount of salt when it does snow. This ol girl does have a couple of problem spots underneath the plastics, i will address before they get to far gone. I also plan to under coat it once i get all the suspension work done.

Quick update, i took the ol girl in to get the tuning done, while there oil pressure started to drop off, so that is where i am at currently. Tuner thinks it is a sensor issue, but i will be working through what i can to figure that out. Also while tuning the cam sensor was also working intermittently, so i will address that, then move on from there. Currently i am dealing with 12+ inches of snow and a full shop, so it is getting pushed to the back of the line for a bit.

Welp after changing the oil sensor, testing the pressure with a mechanical gauge, and changing the oil. Still having issues, mostly after the engine warms up. Next steps are to change the oil pump and o-ring, and going from there. hope i don't have to pull the motor again :(.

Ok i am just going to provide an update, even though it is not a good one......after testing everything i can think of i am at the point i need to pull the motor again, and open it up and inspect everything. After we pulled the latest filter we found copper flakes in it. If i am not wrong that points to a bearing or oil pump coming apart. Anyone let me know if my thinking is wrong but that is where we are at currently. I did strain the oil through a paint filter but i tossed it before i got a good pic. This a couple from the filter.

Cam bearing, most likely. I'm not aware of any copper parts in the pump but I could be wrong. It could also be one of the sources of low oil pressure - pretty common wear area on these. Then again, I've seen engines make metal like that for a hot minute and then go on to run another 100K. I'd still wager that most of your pressure loss is from the o-ring in the pump.

if it is cam bearings that sucks, i am pretty sure it is not the o-ring, i added a couple extra quarts of oil to raise the level above the o-ring, and the symptoms didn't change. Either way i think the best bet right now is to pull it and inspect everything.
