Need vehicle opinion other than my wifes

Don’t waste money buying new cars, especially if you’re young. That’s the best advice I can give you. I don’t know why people willy nilly spend so much money on depreciating assets. You don’t need a new car for it to be reliable, don’t fall for that myth. Buy something used for a lot less and enjoy not owing tons of money every month in payments.

I know a lot of young couples making $250K a year or more. $80K is nothing to them. There is a lot of money out there.....

Those measurements were for the Yukon XLs. The 2025 Suburban is an inch longer than the same MY Yukon XL: 226.3" likely due to different trim.

I’m currently bouncing between four different vehicle choices and really need the opinion of someone who is not my wife. Basically I need an outsiders perspective.

Here are the four vehicles I’m looking at:
2025 Yukon AT4
2025 Tahoe Z71
2025 Lincoln aviator

I think you're all wet outta the gate. Go big or go home. Yukon XL.... if you have the space you'll never WISH you had the space. Big can haul little. Little can not haul big. Investing the green you're talking I would want to park at the back of the lot away from everyone who might be stupid and hit my new ride. Wide open spaces and the walk will help you live longer.

You should NOT be buying an $80k vehicle only making $250k a year. Especially a mundane family vehicle that will be worth half that at 5 years old, that is in insane amount of money to lose when the excuse to buy it is usually either just to get the neighbors to gawk over it or because “used cars aren’t reliable.” While I don’t necessarily fully agree with Dave Ramsey that all debt is bad no matter what and you can’t afford it if you can’t pay cash, having a $1000 car payment is absolutely insane no matter how much you make.

$250k is not a lot of money in today’s economy when rent/mortgage is $2500+ a month, health insurance is $1000 a month, groceries are $1000-1500 a month, and so on. Now, if you do save up and pay cash, then, I guess, go for it, but that’s still an insane amount of money to lose for no reason. You could buy the $40k used 5 year old vehicle that will be just as reliable, but maybe with a tad less new features (which are mostly gimmicky anyway), and put $40k in the stock market and be way better off in 5 years. You’d probably have enough them to trade in and take $20k out and get another $40k one and not spend any more money.

I wouldn't take the genesis for free. You cannot control the lights. You're forced to keep them on all the time. The other vehicles give you various levels of control. With General Motors, devices are regularly available to defeat. The engine stop-start.

Agreed, but they simply don't care. And a lot depends on where you live. The grocery bill for my wife and I never exceeds $400/month. And yeah, we have steak and shrimp every week.....

That said, my wife’s Hyundai Palisade is the best car we have owned in a long time.

And that is the first New car we have bought since 1999. But we are retired and can afford it.

That said, my wife’s Hyundai Palisade is the best car we have owned in a long time.

And that is the first New car we have bought since 1999. But we are retired and can afford it.

Hate to say it, but my daughter is going back to a Palisade after owning another brand for 3 years. She had 22 and loved it. Said it had far more features for the money and overall was just a great vehicle. Can't deny that it come with a lot more than most vehicles for the money.

Hyundai's (and Kia's) are great till they get to 100k miles...whole engine is pretty much done at that point...Which, depeding on luck of the draw on your 6.2, may be 3x longer than you get from the General. But the Palisade/Telluride is more Pilot, Traverse, Acadia than it is Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/XL

I rented a Palisade on a Colorado week vacation ( Vail ).... about 8 months ago.... Beside a few weird accessory glitches, the driver's seat would adjust, after the car was in drive, and both my hands were on the steering wheel..... !!

Well, they are 10/100 on powertrain. That's not terrible...... Especially for those that keep them a long time and don't drive a ton of miles a year.

Funny, my friend has a 2012 Santa Fe that is still going strong at 250K miles. No issues, just regular service.

My opinion is to get the Tahoe or the Yukon. I see young couples have their first baby and put their smaller SUVs up for sale. You’ll start hauling so much bulky baby stuff it’s ridiculous. Possibly throw in a future pet dog and some groceries.
As for resale value, I think the Tahoe and Yukon will be better depending on where you live. I’m in an area of Texas where so many families have Tahoes and Yukons that it seems like these vehicles are standard issue for the majority of parents with money to spend. Texans also aren’t concerned with fuel economy for the most part. Huge vehicles are everywhere outside of large inner cities.
I bought a 2025 AT4 Yukon Xl last week. After reading these forums I decided to avoid the 6.2 liter engine option. It is really the “do it all” vehicle on your list. It checks more boxes than the others on your list. It is safe, modern, large, has real 4wd, can pull a trailer, and still be comfortable as a daily driver around town.
Understand, I’m not loyal to GM, just stating what I’ve observed.
As others have mentioned, whatever you decide, everything that goes wrong will be your fault in the eyes of your wife and she’ll let you know it! Good luck whatever you decide.

My daughter just had twins in January..... thus I ordered a new 25 Yukon. I'm giving my 21 to them because they are overwhelmed, and they need the vehicle space pretty desperately.
They also have a big yellow lab that comes with them on every trip up to see us 3 hrs. away. We don't want any excuses for them not wanting to come visit, so hopefully my current steady steed will help them make the trip with a little more comfort and confidence.

My daughter just had a child in November. She and her husband recently purchased a new Honda Pilot about 8 months ago due to the family growing. They have a dog as well that travels with them often.

It does not take long to fill up a mid size SUV with baby, dog, luggage, diaper bag, dog back pack with food, leash, water and bowls, stroller. Toss in a cooler for food from home and you have a pretty full midsize SUV.

Funny how her husbands family that has to fly in to visit decided to bring the 2015 Suburban to their house and leave it for "them to use when they are in town". I do not think it will be long before the Surburban becomes the road warrior. The Honda Pilot will be great for around town when they are not hauling as much. The Honda will get better fuel economy in town, but the small difference on the highway will probably not be enough to give up the extra hauling space unless the drop the dog with me to take care of and they travel with just the family.

If a 2nd child is added to the mix, the Pilot will be tough as the dog will then loose the back seat and probably be pushed to the back with the baggage.
