Hey there!

My name is Coleman. I'm a husband and dad of 4 kids. I bought a 2001 Yukon XL Denali a few months back because I carry lots of people, we live where it snows and has lots of hills, and we camp/pull a very light pop-up trailer. The Odyssey wasn't cutting it. I love working on our Yukon so far. The LS platform is so easy compared to other engines I've worked on.

I joined the forum because it seems like this is going to be a better place to find out what I need to know when doing fixes, upgrades, etc. rather than random Google searches.

I've learned everything I know from YouTube. But I'm hoping to teach my sons how to maintain their vehicles while learning myself.

Update: Posting a couple of pics from when we first purchased.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

Since you want to teach your kids about wrenching, something that is near and dear to many of us fathers, you may want to check out @wjburken 's Thread on Burken Boys and Girls Journey. It is truly outstanding, and other members also talk about teaching their kids to wrench. https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/burken-boys’-and-girl’s-journey.121751/

Welcome from Southern California! I picked up a 2006 xl Denali for wot of the same reasons you did. People hauling, towing, interior space, full time all whee drive that just pushes these things through snow like it’s not even there…. Great family rigs these things are! Post some pics of the truck when you get a chance. We love pics around here!

Welcome to the forum from Iowa.

We moved from a Honda Odyssey to our first Yukon XL as well. That was back in 2010 and we’ve been driving one ever since.

Love the fact that you want to teach your kids how to work on cars. It is very rewarding to do so and pretty cool watching them gain confidence and knowledge and start being able to handle things themselves.
