shopping bags when I don’t head straight home, and occasionally rifles or tools.
There was a local Craigslist seller (maybe an hour away) selling a black cargo cover a few months ago from an Escalade for around $100. Now it's gone. I considered getting it but for road trips I stack stuff way higher than what the cargo cover could conceal anyways.

ive had security draw shades in every SUV of mine since 1999, but this suburban will pretty much be my 1st SUV since moving away from high crime metro Atlanta 4 years ago (when I retired).

Besides, 75% if my non grocery items are now bought from and delivered by Amazon, so made sense for me to only spend $117 delivered for the shade.

That PMAG is sufficient for dealing with metro Atlanta trash.

Actually I carry a lightweight AR here in the boonies whenever I go outside for my walks, we have nearby packs of feral dogs and wild hogs that keep me on my toes.

Pack of wild dogs killed a husband and wife only 9 miles from here a few years back. https://nypost.com/2009/08/18/wild-dogs-kill-elderly-couple-in-georgia/

Today after some thought and consideration I ordered the Amazon Prime shade for 1/3 less than OEM, my CC and shipping info is already on file with Amazon so was literally 3 mouse clicks and done.

I polly have 30-days if I need to return it (free) and I might not use the shade often anyway.

I appreciate y’all’s insights and suggestion, and I’ll post a photo along with my thoughts once both the shade and Suburban arrive !!
I'm interested to see how this worked. Would love your review. I bet it's probably no different then OEM.

Plug and play yes Most definitely, I am on my third one but a couple of quick notes.

1. The cover has spring hinges but be careful during installaction but should be loaded at about a forty-five degree angle. I f not it can scuff the interior trim….yes plastic but can still scuff easy,

I strongly recommend having this as a two person job. One to pass through cargo are and one to line up the tabs and compress the spring hinge.

2. Ensure third row is folded flat since the mounting bracket is either aligned or just forward of the third row with seat backs extended.

3. Works to keep items out of sight but remember to remove cover BEFORE raising third row seat backs.

Update, I picked up my new 2023 Suburban HC yesterday and tried to install the Amazon aftermarket shade today and no way Jose, it won't fit.

It's a nice security shade with metal housing, carbon-fiber look on the protruding portion of the shade and the springs on the ends seem firm like previous shades on my '99 ML430 and wife's '13 GLE.

Unfortunately the housing is too long, even with the ends pushed all the way in, the gap between the Suburban's walls is too narrow. Also the anti-rotation male tips are square and the Suburban's female counterparts are L-shaped.

Oh well, that's 2 for 2 auto parts purchases from Amazon that I will (or have) returned this month, other was a tonneau cover for my '21 Silverado.

You could also consider putting an extra layer of tint in the back, and sides. That helps a lot

I'm not really a tinted-window guy, my 62 yo eyes dont see as clear as they used to and I like to be able to see out the window. I live in the boonies with almost no ambient light, unless coming from moon or stars

I want to deal with getting this amazon security shade returned and a refund before ordering another, just to make sure I dont have to "eat it" :lol2:

Everyone: No pics yet…next time I am out in the daylight I will try to get a couple.

+ 2 on the extra tint layer for lift gate and cargo area side window. Especially side.

I did 70% on a UV Protection film for windscreen.

30% on all Passenger door windows….(TX Legal is 25% for first row side windows. No restrictions behind. I wen 30 because tint vendor only had 30 and 20 films.

20% cargo area side windows and liftgate. I wanted all side windows to be uniform. Be careful of the lift gate film percentag. I wanted to keep prying eyes from looking in but also need to make sure I can see out…..especially at night.

5% for “Eyebrow” area if the upper top windshield. 5% ( “Limo” )for moonroof to match the eyebrow.

I would prefer zero window tinting if the glass itself wasn’t tinted. I drive quite a bit at night here in the boonies on back dirt roads surrounded by trees and pastures, I like to see best as my older eyes can. I like to observe and sight-see and don’t listen to radio

Fairly simple layout. The spring clips fit into the L shaped box just forward of the 3rd row USB-C charging ports.. The cover itself is just simple spring tension clips on each end.

This photo is to show the cover is unusable when 3rd row seat is extended. For those with frequent third row extended probably not worth it. For my situation the 3rd row would be folded probably 99% of the time.

With that said for small items and limited use. The third row can be extended to prevent small items from rolling around. I have a collapsible cargo storage box for while 3rd row is extended.

Purchase note…….Order from GM accessories site to use the GM rewards points and get credit. The best option is order from site, but choose the pickup at dealer Option. Should be no shipping charges and local deasler will call you when it arrives. Any dealer that actually has the nerve to charge you for install beat them over the head with the cover……..Keep it inside the box so it doesn’t leave marks.

Biggest installation note is to protect the trim while aligning the cover. A towel wrapped around the edges should do the trick.

I didnt take the photo but the locking tabs are on the lift gate trim panel. I just below the glass line.

There are 2 sets of those L-shaped spots for the clips. One set for when 3rd row is folded down, one set further to the rear for when the seats are upright/in use. At least that’s how the XL version is set up.

How is the gap too narrow, what do you mean by that? The vinyl shade rubs the plastic interior walls?

I could see the extra slot for the ESV/Suburban/YXL but hadn’t thought of that. I wouldn’t necessarily mind a Suburban but as said many times…..it would go in the garage as a ESV/Suburban/YXL….it would come out as a E/T/Y……garage length……using the popular word these days….Constraints…
