+1 that comment on SC. It's a drivers aid. A human can get distracted and automation can get confused. But put the two together and you both are watching each others back. I rejected a Ultimate earlier this month because it didn't have SC (built right before they started to included it). I'm very much looking forward to our family road trips where I've got a co-pilot in my seat watching my back, just like I'll watching his. My wife on the other she can fall asleep ....she makes a terrible co-pilot. :p

My fear with SC is that I work in an industry where we are dependent on firmware…and while computers and software can do great things, my 2022 Denali has enough firmware bugs already…and those are on things that don’t threaten my life if they go awry.

Yea, I know, we are in the drivers seat, paying attention…but so were all the Prius drivers when their accelerator stuck…

Bone up on Agile software development, the terms minimal viable product, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and a few others. Then think about the 737 Max, and some of its issues…

I still use ACC and kind of trust it to do it’s full stop and go again…but every time I’m approaching a slowing vehicle, my right foot is hovering about an eighth of an inch over the brake pedal, just in case…and I’ve let my Denali do the stop and go at least 100 times…call me paranoid..but at least I’ll be at work Monday instead of 6ft under…

Ya... Somebody made the comment "Planes fly themselves" Planes are only on auto pilot after they reach cruising altitude and only if the trip is smooth. During turbulence, takeoff and landing the pilot is in full control. And he has a human backup. Would you use SC thru ATL, NYC or DC traffic? My GPS can't even keep stuff straight in big cities. If it was free, sure I'd take it and play with it. But pay big bucks for it or turn down a vehicle I wanted over it? Naa...

I can't understand what the big Hoo Ha is over SuperCruise.... I'd never use it and certainly would never pay extra for it. Does every one drive 400 miles a day on I95?
Unless I can read the paper or work on my computer while driving and arrive safely... UH.. I'd rather be in control of my own vehicle.
I agree!! I don’t get it either. I think it’s absolutely the worst feature to add to any vehicle. Well both America and Canada have motor vehicle policy when getting insurance even that advise the care and control of the driver so why are they adding stupid things like that? And then even no wonder Tesla even has legal issues about self driving in the states even. No you definitely read it right. It only drives a certain amount of miles per day. And it’s a bit bizarre how they can dictate how many for a feature. I am also wondering is there any flaws when it comes to wearing glasses. And what about the reading it does on the retina of the eyes even.

I had a chat with GM Canada about compensation and I have officially retained a lawyer again cause they want to be difficult. I have been told the unit is event 3400 but when do I get it is my loaded question and they won’t tell me that so I think I’ll let the lawyer take charge with compensation and being firm. 90% of the unit is already paid for since day one. Ugh

Did it get dropped in transit or something? That sounds like a pretty significant event for a new vehicle.
It’s gotta be dropped and dragged even. I’ll show a few pics and they don’t even do Justice to how much there is underneath for damage.

Toyota's never accelerated on their own. The fix was to shave down the gas pedal because idiots would put floor matts on top of floor matts causing the accelerator to get stuck.

The 737 max had a system the pilots didn't even know existed because they were not told about it.

Regardless these are driver aides and not full self driving. I think that's the part many of you are missing.

Dang man. That doesn't look like transport damage. Almost looks like it ran on top of something. That sucks.

There is no such thing as self driving currently offered by anyone.

So, let me be clear on something, the dealer actaully sold you this vehicle, in this condition...as in: took your money, initiated a title transfer, registration w/ the province, and handed you the keys?
Seems like he knowingly sold a damaged vehicle, and needs to refund your money, you give him the keys back, and you need to start over. They clearly did not sell you a "new" vehicle, this one should not have passed the pre delivery inspection.

It’s awful! It’s not just a small section even. It’s a big area and those pictures don’t even show all of the damage.

To clarify

The unit was assigned to me based on the VIN and then the dealership has over 80% of the money already from trust fund from when they returned the 2021 problem Tahoe HC I had. As well GM Canada also advised in the emails that particular truck is sold to me even while the final payment is being worked on. They had received the truck on October 4 and didn’t notify me till the 5th. Then the additional parts were on order as of October 7th by the dealership which were a part of the original deal from the Tahoe but now for the Yukon. Then they decided to keep the Yukon in the show room till they decided to send it out to under coat on October 17 which is when the third party company discovered all the damage and refused to undercoat. Then I asked for a copy of the PDI and the dealership refused to show me and GM Canada claims that they checked everything but then I asked why is there now found damages when the PDI should have been enough to early learn these things.. then GM Canada said they dropped the ball at dealership level.

At the end of the day I have a new unit at event 3400 and I definitely have faced an inconvenience with everything. I have demanded more accountability and covering my costs and GM Canada refuses to do more.

+1.

I don't see the point of a system like that if I still have to pay attention.

It's a driver aide to make driving easier and to reduce fatigue. Similar to 99% of the components on your modern vehicle that you utilize day to day.

As said above, it is an assist. Humans are actually really good drivers...when they aren't distracted. Computers/sensor technology are a LONG way off from being able to have human levels of deductive reasoning and decision making. These systems AUGMENT human drivers, as they should...for that split second you aren't paying attention and an accident could happen. Silicon valley and humanity are focused on having computers do the driving for us, when they should be focused on using technology to prevent accidents instead of taking control away from what is the best way to pilot a vehicle: an attentive human.
