I finally got a Windows laptop to pull the files off the Auto Cal. They're emailed to Black Bear and hopefully in less than a week I'll have a tune.
The *only* reason I have a Windows PC laying around is for this kind of stuff. :-D

I'll be interested to learn how fast their turnaround is now that they're no longer offering free updates.

I have several Macs downloaded oracle's virtualBox installed Windows in the USB would simply not recognize. So I had to go to Windows machine. And it worked like a charm.

Similar, except I tried VMware and no dice either.

The reality is that unless you are doing some serious data timeline plotting of certain control systems on the truck, you do not need to install and use the software provided with the Tech 2 to receive the great benefits associated with the Tech 2. I've never installed the software, yet I have saved thousands of dollars using the diagnostic and monitoring capabilities of the Tech 2, including programming some of the truck's major onboard control modules.

There are specific USB dongles that will work to connect a Tech 2 to a PC, and a few posts on here list at least a few. Sometimes the Tech 2 needs to know which COM port the dongle is using.

To mirror what @Joseph Garcia notes, the online Techline, or whatever it is now, connection through the PC is generally not needed to troubleshoot. Typically needed only to program.

And, even if you have a need to program a control module using the Tech 2, you still do not need to install the supplied software. Programming is achieved through a dongle, as @Fless stated, to connect the Tech 2 to a PC USB port. However, connecting to TechLine Connect, the source of programming data, is achieved directly through a web browser on the PC, such as Chrome, Edge, etc.

The update on the black bear tune I ordered. Apparently my file was corrupted and I had to call them after 10 days or so asking for an update to find that out. He did send a custom tune but said he couldn't see hardly any of my file. He did mention the octane I should use 89 instead of 87 so it would ping less. At that point I was pretty confused cuz I want a full customization of my vehicle. So after clarification, they are going to look at the custom tune after running it for 20 to 40 minutes and make adjustments?. The AFM is disabled which is great, it also seems to be a bit punchier but that could be in my head. Still waiting for the full custom tune file. Updates to come.

They sent you a canned tune with their general changes made to shifting, AFM disable etc. You’ll have to re-log and wait again after sending it in. Lucky you called or it might have been longer to find out. Patience is necessary when dealing with them.

I have no idea. It depends on a lot of things, too many to even list.

It's going to improve as you drive it, especially the transmission. That's my favorite part.

As for performance, my LC9 is rated at 310 SAE Net Horsepower. I see guys with camshafts, tunes, exhausts, headers making 270-280 on various dynos. Mine made 307 Rear Wheel Horsepower through the traps in the quarter mile. Basically smoking those guys. Last time out it was a little down on power, 296 HP, I think the muffler is falling apart internally as you can hear the whoosh as she races by, the sign of a restricted exhaust.
