2002 Tahoe Z71 4x4 issues

I have an 02 Tahoe Z71. The ‘Service 4x4’ light came on the dash board, had it scanned at a service shop & after a quick google search discovered it was ‘Most Likely’ the Transfer case motor. Replaced it with no luck. Next part on the list was the switch on the dash board, replaced it with still no luck. What should I look into next? Wiring? Thank you for the help!

Welcome to TYF. Post up the code that is setting the "Service" message. That will help us for our suggestions. Also what Nxx RPO codes are on the inside of the glovebox lid, like NP8?

If someone doesn't beat me to it I'll pull up some locations to check for bad grounds.

I’m having it scanned tomorrow for the code (just b/c I completely forgot what it was)….I traced the ground back & cleaned it off, with no luck. And I’ll check the sticker in the morning as well & post it!

If you haven't done this one yet, there is a double ground near the frame rail, directly behind the front left wheel (terrible place to put grounds), right underneath where the driver's left foot would go. There should be three ground wires there on two bolts. One of those is critical to the 4x4 functioning properly. Remove connections, clean and repaint.

I had to put a bolt/nut through one of the holes on mine, since the threads on the frame were stripped.

The first location this guy shows is what I noted above.

Grounds, fuses, and wiring are the cheapest things left. The Transfer Case Control Module is another piece, as is the transfer case itself. Also, don't forget that new parts doesn't necessarily mean good parts; so one of the things you just bought could be bad. Good luck. I just went through this myself. Mine was a bad switch.
