Any opinions on whether or not, on getting the recommended “Engine Oil conditioner” from the dealer? ...Or is it just a marketing ploy?

Its a ploy by the dealer. Most modern engine oils have all the additives that you would need for a clean running motor. Just dont ask the question which is the best oil and which is the best filter on the forum [emoji854][emoji51]

I'm of mind to only put engine oil in my engine. But I would ask them why and what does it do? Does GM recommend this? Is it in the owner's manual?

No, it’s definitely some BS Scam. The manual does not specify such “service”.

I remember pulling the valve covers on high school girl friend's Fairlane and I found out why it was so quiet. There was a good 1/2" thick layer of sludge in there thanks to he father's oil routine oil treatment additive. That stuff looked like honey when it came out of the can.

Crap like that is insulting inn2021. How long have they been building cars? you’d think they would be bullet proof by now and no need for gimics.
Scotty on YouTube rips these additives. Sucker!!

If the additive business depended on me they would be out of business. Just change your oil every 5K miles with a good oil like Mobil 1 or AC Delco and use the grade that is written on your oil cap and you will be good to go no matter how many miles you have on your vehicle.
