Thanks for the feedback. I have some other questions that I want to put to the group. I dont own. GM true but really considering this new monster yukon at4 which looks amazing. I actually don't own a rig or car for that matter as i sold my 4runner. I am in a rental car now.

To the OP if you’re a Toyota guy and used to reliability I wouldn’t plan on the same experience with a Tahoe or Yukon regardless of first model year. Gm is not a pillar of quality by any means . My 17 Yukon Denali has had numerous issues all under 45k miles, far more than I’ve had on any of the European brands I’ve owned. The motors are great but suspension failures , electronics grrmlins, hvac systems failures , chrome paint chipping Off all four wheels , are all issues I currently have and you’re not finding that on a land cruiser that’s three years old. I’d get a land cruiser all day long

I test drove a new Tahoe and the drive was quite good but while we were searching for a squeaky sound the salesman pressed the cargo lamp on and it kinda went flippy floppy. But that was a Tahoe I'm sure the Yukons are much better.

experience with tahoes and yukon seems to vary in my overall experience with the newer models. friend of mine has a 16 model that has treated him well but hes a stickler for maintenance and has the cash so only the dealership he bought it from touches it

I wouldn’t count on that. I’ve owned both and although the interiors are different I wouldn’t say that the quality or fit and finish is materially different between the two. Things like cargo lights etc are usually shared parts.

I had a 2017 Tahoe for 3 years which I just traded in on my 2021. I literally did not have one issue with the 2017 other than the AC cabin filter got clogged once. I am also a stickler for the maintenance tho.

One thing that hasn’t been discussed here is what the opinion of the LM2 engine is in the 21 format. I think it has been mated with the 10 speed for a while, but what does anyone think about it in the large SUV format?
Has it mostly been dependable in the Silverado Sierra format?

Hey All I am in the market for a full-size SUV and obviously love the look at new Tech and space of the Yukon.

I would definitely wait for the a AT4 for off-road version.

I have to be honest I am nervous as you know the old adage of never buying a first year model redesign.

I have always been a Toyota guy and love the durability and reliability. That being said I am open to getting a Yukon.

I am close to buying a Land Cruiser but still entertaining perhaps picking up this rig later this year.

A question to the group, If you were going to keep this car for 200,000 miles would you have any concerns buying the first year?

Any concern with the air suspension that it will last for many years.

How reliable do you think this new version will be?

Thanks for the feedback
Eric

I purchased an SLT Yukon the end of July and do have some concerns.
>First, I noticed a strong vibration that increased with speed. Had to schedule service within days of purchasing and a road force balance appears to have solved that.
>I also noticed several clicking/ticking sounds within the cabin. Most appear to be coming from headliner. Sounds like a bowl of Rice Krispies above your head. You can press on the headliner and hear metal to plastic clicking noises. Very annoying while driving. (Pending service appointment.
>The front park assist keeps alerting false positives when backing up or while parked in traffic/lights. (Pending service appt)
>Android Auto will not work and USB chargers not working correctly. I've tried multiple cables and USB plugs (USB and C). It will show lighting bolt on phone but screen never goes to standby and phones heats up. It never charges. Android Auto just wont connect. I'm tech savy and it may just be my phone. (Pending service appt)
>One day the left side 360 cam showed pixelated image on screen. Has yet to return.
>I still have black specs on windows that are a b**ch to remove. I used a razor blade and somehow managed to scratch windows. Not sure this is related to the "Mayfly" situation or not. I think the spots came from the manufacturing process, as the substance is difficult to remove.
>I swear there is a slight transmission shudder with 3rd gear. Its nothing major, but I can definitely tell a difference with that gear and all others. (Will keep watching that)
>Ride quality is good, but I expected better. I test drove Tahoes before this (based my purchase off of Tahoe) with magnetic ride and it was better. My Yukon does not have that, only the "premium smooth ride" suspension.
>5.3L is severally lacking in power, in my opinion. I'm coming from 2019 Ram Hemi. Probably the slowest vehicle I've owned. Would recommend the 6.2L.
>No more adjustable pedals; which would be nice because I don't thing the adjustable power steering comes out far enough.

Should we create a 2021 problems and solution thread?

Sorry for the long post. I like vehicles and purchase or lease very often. I'm very picky, maybe to picky. I am really hoping the dealer can solve my small complaints, because it really is an excellent vehicle. My kids love it; the media system/infotainment is great. Looks awesome, inside and out. I just have reliability concerns and really can;t stand interior squeaks and creaks!

Thanks

My neighbor has a 20 fully loaded AT4 double cab. He loves it and no issues or gremlins yet. As far as waiting for a few years after a new model year, yes, wait.

Something always get updated, added and improved on the 2nd year of production. I’ll cite how the 06 Yukon Denali was almost perfected before the 07 model year change.

Two years after the 07 Yukon came out, they added flex fuel, increased HP, updated the trans for longevity, full side curtain airbags were standard in 08, cooled seats, BT, power tilt wheel, optional side blind zone alert in mirrors and a one year only no AFM 6.2L motor w/ flex fuel which made one of those 200k vehicles you mentioned.

Re: electronics, is there an update in the infotainment center?

(I have on order the Yukon XL Denali that should come in around October/November)

I run an update at least weekly, but it hasn't found one yet. I also have it set to auto update; as I have the 4G data plan for now.
I'm leaning towards compatibility issue with my phone. Although it worked fine with my 2019 Ram Android Auto.

I vote to pass on the new 21. If I were looking for a vehicle right now I would look for a good used 2019-20 Tahoe,Suburban or Yukon or a nicely discounted new 2020. In my neck of the woods there are very few 2020 models left. It is always a hit and miss with any vehicle.

I bought my 2016 Tahoe LT brand new and so far [90K miles] only had to replace the A/C Condenser at 80K miles which was done the next day at the dealer. Other then that everything else has been just plain old regular maintenance every 5K miles. Knock on wood.

That is just me. To each their own.

Welcome from Miami Beach!

My experience has been if you want a "reliable" car, buy a rice burner. If you want a "nice" car, buy GM.
People get into my Cadillac and say, "Nice car." My Suzuki, not so much...
Life is too short to drive a POS, unless you have to. Most of my life, I have had to.

Not sure a Suzuki and a caddy are in the same price range. Lexus LX 570 and a caddy maybe.

There’s Sequoia TRD Pro out there if you are looking for an ‘offroad’ SUV. All-time 4WD with locking center diff.

Had my 2021 Z71 for almost a month now. No issues noted to date! Loving it so far. The ride is so much better with the independent suspension, even with my 22's and 33.5" Ridge Grapplers. Hope it stays that way. Fingers crossed!

Thanks again all for the great advice/comments-much appreciated.
I will do some more digging. The LC 200 series is amazing but I love the new Yukon.
