So I'm doing the cabin air filter retro install, and i drilled through the slot where the cover goes and I get water dripping out of it. Not a significant amount but enough to warrant a WTF moment.... where is it coming from and why?

Likely, if it is water and not coolant, a blocked a/c condensation drain hose at the firewall on the engine side. That is the sweat of the a/c evaporator that builds up during a/c usage and defroster usage. If is coolant, then suspect a heater core problem. If you dab a bit on your finger tip and taste, is it a water taste or the sweet/sour taste of coolant?

Also, like I just read what Wes said, possibly the car wash or heavy rain and leaks from the cowl area.

I wouldn’t taste that nasty, nasty sludge but whatever floats your boat @PNW VietVet lol

seriously, prob blocked condensate drain or rain... like these guys said...:)

It's not that bad if you have a double shot of Jim Beam to wash it down with. I grew up around lead paint and lived to tell the story. I also inhaled brake dust before the guidelines and again, I am still kickin' ass and takin' names.
