When should I upgrade my alternator?

Planning on putting on some off road kc lights or piaa. When do I need to upgrade my alternator. Is there anything else I should now on determining what size alternator I'll need? Also I just purchased some heavy duty hawk pads with Power Slot Cryo Rotors so I'll let yall now how that goes when I put them on.....
