You just use sand paper & polish? I've got LEDs. Always thought they could be better though.

I did the puddle lens ..... Sanded with one of those square sponge sanding pads, then polished it with a polishing wheel pad on a drill ( mounted on a vise)..... using rubbing compound.
( 20 minutes total per lens )
Came out clear. I got LED's and the lamps are nice and bright.

I posted the process.... I 'heard' someone was going to make a sticky for it.

So it turns out I had a dead battery. Took it back to Pep Boys this morning. They hooked it up to the charger and nothing. She played with the cables again and nothing. Dead as a doornail. Gave me a new one and on my way.

Battery back in the Tahoe and instant start up numerous times. 48 months replacement, not pro rated. Still have 3 years left. Odd it died after 10 months and it was unhooked for 2 months this summer. Who knows with the Florida summer tropical heat.

Checked all the grounds and made sure the side post cables were as tight as they could go without stripping them out. Put a little dielectric grease on the connection and will watch it for now.

I always use a tender if I’m not going to be driving a vehicle for awhile.

I know we had this discussion ages ago and you gave me the one you had. My summer with it unhooked may have contributed to its demise, but it died to zero. Surprised it didn't happen earlier, but good advice to heed moving forward for the next long gap.

What RocketMan said....... Even when your ride is off, you still have onboard systems running to keep stuff up-to-date & timed , like a clock for example.....

Of course. I get what both of you are saying. And totally correct.

The battery was completely disconnected Nothing could have been running until I hooked it back up again.

No battery tender although it was considered. Lucky I have the free replacement. Battery tender for next time just to make sure though.

The tenders do way more than keep them charged, they cycle them to rid them of sulfates and such so they don’t die prematurely. They need to be “exercised” to stay in shape.

The chrome plastic edges on the ‘15 style fobs I bought were killin’ me so I bought new all black cases off EBay and they came with metal instead of plastic edge parts plus no logo on the back. I likey.

I had a AGM die like that in the old ladys burb this summer, she went to Walmart came out and it was DED jumped it drove it to the house, I put a charger on it, it instantly showed fully charged, yet wouldn't even unlock the doors and was dead again I think it was about the same age not even a year old

Yeah man. Just weird. Had just returned home, then had to leave about 30 minutes later and battery was DOA.

Anyways, good discussion for all about dead batteries, tenders and charging this round.
