Long-time automobile enthusiast, first time Yukon owner (although I did buy a new Jimmy in '96). We bought our SLT after a long search on July 31st (took a while to find AWD and bench 2nd row). We wanted a Denali, but couldn't find one equipped correctly. In the 4 weeks of ownership we've driven it over 4k miles with 2 long drives dropping kids off at colleges. Loving it so far!

I've made a few changes since purchase.

Probably still going to swap out the optional running boards for the standard SLT ones -- if I can find a good deal.

This forum kept popping up with reference threads as I was looking for bits of info. Looking forward to many discussions to come.

Thanks. We were really looking to avoid a dark color -- mostly looking for Frost White. The only 4WD with bench 2nd row's we found in Frost White were a Tahoe in Estero Bay, FL and a Yukon in Frankenmuth, MI. Dark Sky kept growing on us and this one was at a local dealer, so it worked out.

Great choice with the Dark Sky! I'm currently experiencing the Frost White/Dark Sky battle myself - (still searching and shopping for the perfect one) I definitely have to have the 2nd row bench also (and prefer the tan interior) so I get where you're coming from. It's really not easy to find these combos. Yours looks great - congrats!

2nd row bench is so hard to find -- and really difficult to correctly search for on Autotrader/Cars.com/Car Guru/etc. So many dealerships leave the words "2nd row 60/40 split bench seat" in their descriptions even though they have the "2nd row bucket seats" option. With 3 kids, the buckets just wouldn't work for us.

Add the desire for 4WD, leather, nav, and sunroof and we were looking for a unicorn.

Cool. Your Yukon is clean. Do you ever go to C&C at the Avenues? I have an Audi S4 that I normally bring out with the JAX Rings Cub.

Thanks, Yukon is gone and now the Silverado is the daily. I've been a few times, but not lately.

How's that? We raised our three girls while driving vans with captain's chairs in the second row. Are they all in car seats still?

Welcome from Iowa.

We have 4 kids and went from a Mini-can to a Yukon with buckets when they were 7, 5, 3 & 1. Went to bench when we needed to carpool kids and now they are 15, 13, 11 & 9 and we just returned to buckets.

No, definitely out of car seats. Just not enough cargo space behind the 3rd row for 5 persons worth of gear. We take a fair amount of family road trips, the previous Pilot and MDX each had bench 2nd rows with the 3rd row typically folded for luggage. 2nd row buckets would probably work in an XL, but that wouldn't fit in the garage....

Got it. We considered the bench for about two seconds until my kids started complaining that the seat was hurting their backs while on a test drive. Hopefully, they recline on the K2s and beyond or at least more comfortable for y'all. I miss my big garages that would have housed our Yukon XL, stuck with the tiniest one ever for the time being. Sick of moving.

We have the same age spread, but you outdid us by one. We had buckets in our first mini-van (Olds Silhouette Premier), but the 2005 Honda Odyssey was a game changer for us with that bonus jump seat between the captains in the 2nd row. Since then it's been nothing but 3-row SUV's. Our kids are 21,19, and 17 now with two in college. It goes fast, enjoy every minute of their younger years...

Our one and only mini-van was an ‘05 Odyssey as well. To this day my wife asks if there is a way to add a jump seat!

Absolutely. As I was writing my last post, I found it hard to believe how fast the time has gone by.

Funny, we had the same conversation about the Yukon -- jump seat between captains would have been perfect. I did consider buying an extra bench 2nd row seat to swap in as needed, lol.
