shock extenders and autoride

would the truck sit any lower in the rear with just shock extenders and bending the sensor rods. like most, i just want to level the truck out, but all the kits seem like i'll end up with the cali lean. all the 2"kits say not for autoride. i was told that both the mcgaughys and belltech 3" kits can be set to 2" by bending the sensor rods less. seems like lowering the rear is a very popular topic, but only 1 person was succesful?

I used the shock extenders and cut off abount an inch off the links and it sits about 5 inches lower in the rear.

i have autoride also and looking to drop are the shock/strut extenders for the front and back worried an expensive air shock will go bad if i drop and compress them more than the stock ride

Air ride is only on the rear.

I think Conor meant "Shock extenders are only for the rear", I say this because Autoride/Airride is front to rear.

Really, I always thought that the air ride was just rear. Or am I thinking about the auto level?

Oh no Autoride if front to back, self-levleing is the rear only I think.

yall are confusing me lol whats the difference between autoride and self leveling i thought they were the same thing if not i got an 08 ltz with autoride do i have self leveling too?

If you have one, you will have the other.
But Autoride is the air shock feature with certain models that makes the ride alot smoother.
Self-leveling is when the car raises/lowers the rear to match the height of the front.

so it sounds like you are saying self leveling is air pumped into an air shock (to level the truck) which provides the soft air ride(autoride) as opposed to a sealed gas shock (ls,lt models) autoride and self-leveling ,one the same ? just trying to clear it up so back the original question if there are shock extenders for the rear shouldn't there be extenders for the front

i don't believe they are the same. a Z71 suspension still has the self leveling but obviously not the autoride ride suspension.

my 03 Z71 had self leveling rear shocks and off road suspension.

yeah it reads like autoride is a automatic adjustable dampening system . i guess that is why i am iffy about a drop, worried i will lose that nice autoride feeling if i compress the shock out of stock ride height or switch out shocks for gas ones. still wondering if there are shock extenders for the front like there are for the back shocks? any suggestions?

I still have the autoride equipment and it rides smooth as silk even wit 24's and 295/35/24's..

Mcgaughys 2" drop spindles in the front and 3" drop coils and shock extenders in the rear. I trimmed the autoride links by about an inch to make up for the drop. The auto ride compressor kicks in for about 3 seconds at start up and when I have too many bodies or towing but it stays the same ride height all the time..

Hey christos I'm in tempe and want to lower the rear end only.I have a 2008 yukon 4x4 w/autoride.I still have not seen a clear cut answer,can you just trim the the auto ride links or do I have to get the extenders and trim auto ride end links.
Maybe I can come by and see exactly what you have done.

I'm pretty sure its more of a side to side level...I've never seen a stock GM vehicle with this feature that wasn't way higher in the rear...mine sits nowhere near level front to back. Sure would be nice if auto level was front to rear though...

I don't think you can get away with trying to lower it with just shortening the links. You'll definitely have to have the springs and shock extenders.. I'm off Guadalupe and McClintock..
