ok guys here is one of my last big items to have my Tahoe fully refreshed with 0 issues. so yes im fixing the stupid a/c on request of my wife i dont care about it myself. ill be buying all the parts from rockauto also. when i bought my truck the pipes to the compressor were disconnected so obviously needed work. im going to be buying a new compressor, dryer accumulator tank, and condenser and the pipes on the top of the compressor and from the condenser. probably the switches and sensors too. ive already replaced the HVAC controls inside. so i see ac delco, uac, gpd, four seasons, Delphi, denso options any brand opinions out there. i also know little about the a/c system besides after i replace the parts it will need to be professionally purged and refilled. lastly what is the orifice tube should i be concerned with it or should i get the updated one that has some automatic adjustment features.

You need to get the evaporator either flushed or replaced before you put on all the new parts, it is likely that the old compressor filled the system with crap when it went, if you don't the crap will just tear up/contaminate your new stuff. As far as brands I've gone with whatever is least expensive, everything besides the compressor is just a hard part, not much to go wrong with them. In my experience often a new orifice tube comes with the new condencer.

Except you need to probably remove the whole damn dash to get to it. Look into it before you just decide to replace it. I did one a while back on a 92 and it was a day job.
