Shock for 02 yukon?

My Yukon have over 180000 miles. I have Rancho shock right now. Not sure which one. Looking to get another shock, because it’s have over 100000miles on it. What do you guys recommend it. I don’t do off-road. But I do load up the truck with 6-7 people a lot.

Is something wrong with it, or are you just replacing it because its over 100k miles? Aren't shocks only supposed to last about half that, but you never know?
I'm guessing by rancho shocks that its a 4WD?
What suspension type do you have (ZW7, Z55)?
How do you like your suspension (when its good)? Do you want to just replace with the same or factory shocks, or do you want to personalize it more (softer or more firm) for how and where you drive your Yukon?
Are you keeping the height as it is? What height is it? Is the rest of your suspension stock?
I would change your shocks in pairs, front, back, or all four, how many are you replacing?

It’s RWD. Stock height , with out/no self leveling or air suspension. And just driving around town and HWY. not sure what kind of suspension code I have. Came with the bigger diameter black shock. The Rancho I have on it , it’s a lot smaller diameter than the factory came with it.

Sounds like it came with Nivomats and you replaced them with Rancho's and now you want to replace them again?

Did you also do the coil springs conversion when you converted away from the Nivomat suspension? That's a critical step when abandoning the Nivomat shocks.

If you've done that, then your options for shocks are pretty wide open. Pick a brand and go with it. I tend to use Monroe's higher end lines a lot, they have a lifetime warranty (I've never tried using it), they are reasonably priced.

I would put the oem's back on, not much out there that compares to those, just my .02

Truck came with coil springs on the rear and torsion bar upfront. Yes, I have Rancho with over 100.000 miles on it. That’s why I’m planning to replace it with new one. Just not sure what kind or brand I’m going with. Truck ride ok with the Rancho till I put heavy load on it. And I think the stock oem shocks came with it different with any other shocks.

The nivomat shocks are a self leveling shock that has an internal spring component to it. Bc of this, vehicles with nivomat shocks have weaker than normal (special) coil springs. If you remove the nivomat shocks you must also replace the special coil spring with a standard coil spring. If you don't do that you will have ride problems (especially if you're putting weight on the hitch) and burn through shocks faster. It sounds like you originally had nivomat shocks but when you put the Rancho shocks on you didn't change to the standard coil springs, thus your ride issues. I would replace your coil springs first to see if that solves the problem

Thats make sense. Where can I get the nivomat shock? I went to rockauto website, and have no clue which one. There’s so many different kind shock for a different kind of suspension.

Damn..., can you buy aftermarket brand (Monroe, rancho, bilstein) similar like nivomats? The one have coil spring in it.
Unless someone is selling a good used set. I sold mine for $50--and they were still good.

OEM IS $245 on amazon. I bought them there, but they had a 20% off ac del o sale when I did, so they were just under $200 each. I waited 3 years for the deal though lol

What did you get to replace it?
I lowered it, so I replaced springs along with shocks. First I used kyb shocks, which weren't that great for my truck, then replaced with Bilstein 4600's, which I live. Firmed up the ride really good. Feels like a different truck--in a good way.

Do you know which one , or parts number for the aftermarket?
This is what rockauto.com shows; only 4 that I know of that make them. If you want to be certain you need these look at your RPO list in the glovebox, it's a sticker with a bunch of 3-digit codes on it. You're looking for ZW7 & G65. If you have both of those you should have these shocks or you should replace your rear coil-springs if you want to use another shock type.

AFAIK Sachs is the OEM so the Sachs part should be just as good as the Delco, I wonder if they've made some improvements not taken into account in the cost of the ACDelco? I don't know why the price difference otherwise. This is the one I was thinking of when I said OE was over $300. Looks like the ACdelco is less.
