Almost washed mine before coming to work. But my wife was throwing a damn fit about the yard, saying that if I had time to wash my truck, then I had time to rake and bag up the leaves in the yard. And that's how the fight started.....

1964 quake, Seward was heavily damaged. If you want to read about it here ya go. Seems the town was built partly on fill and it dissolved. When we were there , they had left a huge area as-is without attempting to restore it. I remember it looked like an alien spaceship had come in and blown it up. Worn out springs will change how it sits but shocks shouldn’t. They’re not meant to do anything but absorb shocks , not support weight unless they have air bladders like some of the rears.

The stock nivomat shocks do support the weight of the truck in addition to the springs. If you replace them with regular shocks your truck will lower 2 inches and ride super soft. That is why you have to add Bilstein springs or z71 springs to get the ride height back.

Just a tidbit if anyone has premium ride and wonders why they can't haul any weight after changing rear shocks.

my truck had them nivomat shocks. they were shot to hell. i put bilstiens in place of them, dont ya know, my ride height did not change one bit.

now holding extra weight i could see them help out with. but they are still not lifting the truck up one bit.

i added a pair of air bags to help with towing or hauling weight.

Super soft=SCARY! Changed mine to kybs and rear lowering springs, and the rearend would sway side to side at normal highway speeds.

Once again, that's for the rear. Still won't affect alignment which is what we were talking about. But yes, any time either Premium Z55 or Nivomat (forget RPO code) rear shocks are replaced it's recommended to change the springs to Z71 or similar. I've heard from some who say they have changed to regular shocks without changing springs and there's no difference, and some who have had a soft mushy ride after. I like having the self leveling myself, especially with bigger wheels and towing.

How the hell did that happen?? Sux you're not local, I'd stitch it for you. Your foam should be fine. An upholsterer can stitch in another piece of leather for you. Weird.
