I have a avic d3, i installed in my 05 tahoe w/ bose. I have replaced the door speakers with alpine type s coax. With the d3 installed i have to turn up the volume to almost 30 to 40 to hear it. Which 40 is max loud. I have the same d3 installed in my gto with no problems. The factory bose, i also have the nav, is louder than the d3 by far. Is the bose amp limiting the output of sound? Im kinda lost on this. I have installed it correctly, checked all my connections, and have installed radios in almost all of my cars and friends. But bose is new to me and sounds like a pain.

Not sure if this makes sense, but basically i installed the d3 and the sound is to low, and have to put it to max sound to hear even hear it. I can hear it lower but the lowest is like 20 for just sound.

Help appreciated..

The Bose speakers are 2 ohm....more than likely the Alpines are 4 ohm, causing the Bose amp to not work as efficiently, thus cutting the output....that's why when you have the Bose speakers in it sounds ok.....I think Infinity makes a 2 ohm component set  Or you can bypass the Bose amp and wire the Alpines directly to the D3 :D

Are you using the Axxess GMOS04? I had the same problem if so. Basically the only way I could get my AVIC D3 to work was to bypass the module, giving up the chimes and Onstar to make the sound work. I've had this setup for over 2 years now, and have had no issues, although I was told that it was ******* the Bose Amp to do it the way I did. I'm not even positive I'm running through the Bose amp though, and am thinking that the headunit is actually powering the speakers. I can give more info on this if this is your setup...

yeah the alpines are 4ohm. And its not when i put the bose speakers in. I threw those away. Its when i put in the factory bose radio back in it. It sounds better and louder.

Yes i am using that also gmos04. I cant imagine my million dollar thing causing the sound to not work properly. But probly is just like yours. Ive read sounds like i just need to rip out anything bose. But even if i do that. How would i get sound? olsonk, you can pm what you did. I would like to get it to work, as i want to add a 12 in the future. But if i cant even get the sound to play now, then... i might just scrap that idea for awhile.

As olsonk_89 said you'll lose OnStar and your chimes, but basically you'll have to run speaker wire from the D3 to either the Bose amp or all the way to the speakers....or get a 2 ohm speaker set....when I installed my system in my HD I left all the Bose stuff intact and just ran new speaker wire so when I sell my truck I can go back to factory bose in about 30 minutes :D

Well im not to concered about onstar, as i dont have the service for it. The chimes not concered about either, kinda loud. For bypassing the bose amp, would this be the way to do so that i would have sound. Heres the link... http://www.gmtruckclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27781 i found about bypassing the amp. Is this the way i should do it?

Eventually i want to amp the door speakers w/ another better amp. But for now i just want it to sound better.

start by bypassing your bose amp, that should fix the low output problem. I've installed lots of the onstar integration modules and unless you did something wrong that is not your problem. There is a small chance that you have a bad module but the ones I have seen that are bad out of the box just don't work at all.

I think the module is good. i hear chimes and all. Also checked my connections all are right. double checked and triple checked.

on the box ther is a vol nob turn it up its blue or white.

I think this may be the problem. i knew there was a chime volume, not at sound one. I did check that and it is turned almost all the way off. have to reinstall the d3 and see if that fixes the problem. Hopefully so, it usually is something really simple to, i just think the worse and overlook the obvious. lol.

These guys seem to know a lot more of what's going on I just seemed to have lots of problems with my module. For some reason I decide to leave it installed in there even though I wasn't using it. After after 6 months it started drawing power when the key was off so I went ahead and removed it completely. I tried two modules when I first installed bypassing the amp and never could get it work. I hope luck treats you better than me!

Be careful turning the plastic adjustments. I just took my D3 out of my 05 Tahoe because the sound quality was horrible. If you turn the Gain up on your axxess module it causes alternator whine to bleed through. And the only way I could get the whine to go away and keep my volume was to put ground loop isolators in. But still sounded scratchy. I installed at Bestbuy and the only module worth buying is the one from PAC. Hope this helps.

yeah that knob feels kinda cheap, but i turned it carefully. havent installed it yet though. Havent had time yet, school and work come first. Just got some DD subs, 1510 and having a box built for them. So we will see how far i go with it.

Speaking of that, any amps anyone can reccomend for the dd subs, model 1510 10's. 2 of them i have. They are 500rms each, but ive heard under rated.

Thanks for you guys help. Kinda new to this bose and actually having a good stereo..so many questions i still have
