If you’re removing the Z55 because of future budget or maintenance cost concerns, don’t do it. Your resale will take a hit and the ecu controlled ride quality will be missed.
We purchased a $4k service contract (s/c) approx 9 mo after we got out 08 Denali XL awd. It was a one owner trade purchased from a Mopar dlr @ 92k miles. The s/c just paid for itself after it paid for a new factory compressor and rear air shocks. The dealer charged $1.8k that was 100% covered except for $100 deductible.
They only paid because I reminded them all the lines at the dealership were recorded and they initially denied the claim as neglected maint on a 08 dealer maint’d truck. Prior to that I researched and found Arnott had replacement struts for the rear with a lifetime warranty for about $5h.
10 years ago I purchased Arnott for the front of our Audi at $1.1k. I’ve replaced 3 of them since then and they’ve paid me back. You must purchase these from the factory or you may get screwed. Now that Arnott sells to authorized resalers they occasionally pull those resellers privileges for warranty abuse. You may return to the online or brick/mortar shop to be told they don’t sell them anymore (without disclosing why).
The magneride (MRC) package at the rear (SLT) or all the way around (Z55) works [emoji817] % of the time, perfectly, until failure. Traditional shocks degrade gradually, until they’re too miserable to avoid replacing. Koni is about the only shock company that will warranty their shocks for a lifetime. You have to pay for shipping though. Arnott and magneride win every time for ride quality , comfort maint cost and resale value. It’s cool if you’re ditching it for other reasons, just keep in mind $5h for Arnott MRC lifetime replacements in the rear is cheap. I believe the fronts are less. Just my 2¢.
