Requested tint quotes from 3 different shops yesterday. Heard back from 2 today.

-1st was a guy I've used before, real nice guy, comes to me (he's done all our cars at work, we pull them inside to our lift bay so that's super convenient).
$225 for front 2, rear 5 and a tint strip. Sunroof would be $30 extra. Not sure what kind but he uses Llumar.
He won't do windshields, not sure I want it anyway

-2nd was a shop 10 min up the road, have to take my truck to them.
$400-600 for the front 2 and rear 5 depending on the film
$50 for the tint strip
$75-100 depending on the film for the sunroof
$150-175 for the windshield.

Between almost $700-$1000 for tint!? Needless to say, I won't be going to the second shop :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Do the windshield tint. I had the 5% strip, got it pulled and tinted the windshield on both trucks with 45% and what a difference it makes in looks and heat rejection. One mod my wife did not give me crap about because it was for the UV reduction and her skin. Winning! And takes it a bit easier on the leather. Just my .02.

Dammit!! The key fobs for both the 06 and 13 need to be refreshed. Drop them enough and this happens. Even though it is still functional, it looks like hell.

Go with the aftermarket ones or the actual GM ones for a few dollars more?

:shake: I may do that a little later. The cheaper guy that I’ve used before won’t do windshields anymore. It’s too hard for him (being mobile in uncontrolled environments) to keep the windshield clean enough for tint. I’ll do the strip for now and then upgrade to the whole shield after some other stuff since it’s gonna be $150+ just for the shield. I still need to get a DD headunit, tail lights a muffler/tip done

Always something else to do. Neverending want list. Lol

The strip in the meantime is good, but you will love the whole front done when that time comes.

Your stance is looking really good.

I went GM for my ‘01 when it went bad but i only needed 1 other one was brand new practically ...i think you’re better off Michael, especially since I believe you’ll be keeping both trucks for a while?

Two separate sellers advertised their fobs as oem under the part numbers I wanted and what showed up was chicom copies. They work fine but the "lettering" on the buttons wears off and they begin cracking rather quickly. Have 5 fobs total and already two are out of service because the bodies cracked. They're so cheap now that the whole fob doesn't cost much more than the plain body, unless you want the originals. Yeah, people are selling the original fob skins now too! If the part number and instructions aint printed on back, it's a chicom.

I'm back to using the one original that came with the truck.

I've been using the cheap fobs for my Denali for 2 years now with no issues other than the symbols on the buttons wore off in a month or so. For about $15 per pair I'm happy. I know which buttons are what.

You’ve got that right lol. I’ll be pretty happy with it if I can do all that this year. Then start saving for the motor.

Thanks man!

Any pics of the tinted windshield on yours? Looking for a pic from the outside and inside during the day & from the inside at night

45% on the windshield and 5% all around the rest of the truck. I will have to get you a picture from the inside looking out. Honestly looking out during the day it doesn't seem that dark. At night looking from the inside out, I do not find myself restricted at all. The rest of the windows being 5% does make it a challenge at times, especially where there are no street lights.

And on the Suburban. Time frame is slight different with the angle of the sun, but look at the steering wheel and how shaded it really is. Both trucks have the same 45% up front, but the Suburban only has 15% all around the rest of the windows.

BEFORE windshield tint.

Man, I did not realize that you have over a quarter million miles on that thing!! And per our discussion about your cluster, with that many miles and ALL the stepper motors still working, plus from that picture it looks like all the bulbs are working too. There's no way in HELL that is the original cluster unless it's been rebuilt.
