Depends on how you define city/highway.
I would say Mostly city as most of my driving is under 55mph

So last night it was time to refuel the truck. The Tech2 said the tank was at 13% and pumped in 24+ gallons of E85 and it said 98%. Tried to get to 100% but the pump kept clicking. Hopped on the highway to check alcohol content (it is now 62%) and the tank capacity showed 85% while moving. Going up hill or down hill or stopped the tank shows full, 98%. But underway on a flat surface is read 85%. I've always wanted to refuel while moving like the fighter jets, now I have a good excuse, another 4 gallons of fuel in my tank!
Anyway, 13% is 4 gallons. Pumped in 24.77 gallons so that's 28.8 gallons. That's technically 92% capacity now. Still room for 2 gallons if it weren't for all that emissions crap. More useless information!

Out here in the sticks it is defined as driving in the city, stop and go, as opposed to highway driving at speed. To me, there is a difference in driving on the freeways of Dallas as opposed to fhe painful stop and go of Austin. Obviously fuel economy suffers more with stop and go. If your typical tank is mixed highway and stop and go, that is pretry good fuel economy.
I have a 2500HD 4wd with the 6.0 and 4:10 gears, and it does ok on the highway though it spends most of it's life going slow. I wanted a 2500 suburban but i have been leaning away because of the fuel economy. Your experience is appreciated, it helps.

What does that have to do with anything? $3/gallon for gas sucks regardless if it was several years ago or this afternoon.
when mine is a hair above the E it usually takes 27... gallons, premium was $2.95 at Costco just this evening about the best price on this side of town, good o'l Governor Brown bumped us up .20 cents a gallon in NOV for "road maintenance" tax and added an extra $80 to everyone's registration

There's a Mobil nearby at $2.86 a gallon for 93 but most of the top tier stations are just over $3. E85 is down to $1.93 around here and I'm going to stick with that for a while; the motor loves it.

this whole state is screwy, I don't know what happened California used to be normal a long time ago, wish I could get the hell out of here but I have good resources where I am that I probably wouldn't find anywhere else.

My '08 holds 26 gallons. When the "miles left" on the computer show 50 miles, the fillup takes 23+ gallons. The analog gauge shows about 1/8 th tank.

When my idiot light comes on, I know I've got enough fuel left for about 30 miles. I've only pushed it once, and got about 18 miles before it started sputtering. Thank GOD the trip into the nearest town was about 4 miles, and all downhill. Took 31.6 gallons, topping it off (I know, I know...).
When going about 8-10 miles after the light comes on, I'm usually putting about 29-29.5 gallons in, rounding up to the next dollar (old habits die hard, always used to pay in cash). My gauge doesn't even start to register until I've gone about 40 miles, then drops quickly to about 3/8 (about 200 miles in), then slows down until the light comes on (at about 310 miles).
Currently only getting about an adjusted 12 mpg (34.1" tires vs the stock 31.6"), with my knock sensors needing replacing (already have them and the harness, being done next Wednesday).

Never even had my idiot light come on haha, but I've noticed even at under 1/4 tank I take 17 gallons, fuel gauge isn't that accurate I guess.

Have everything necessary, but I don't have a heated garage to work in. My cousin is the manager at a Goodyear shop, he said it'll be 2 1/2 - 3 hours of labor. I get the "friends and family rate", will probably run from $150 - $250. Was going to have it done yesterday, but their lead tech was on vacation, coming back on Tuesday.
Plan on having it tuned once the weather changes, probably April or May.

Good deal, save that kind of work for the youngsters! When I get rid of AFM sometime this year, I'm figuring on hiring a guy to do the grunt work to pull the motor for me and I'll work on it on the stand. Trying to do all that in the engine bay would put me in the hospital!

I can tell you that running a 03 Tahoe 5.3L until it literally dies from tank on empty that it takes more than a gallon to get it started gain. I put in a second gallon and it fired right up.
Our fuel level sensors are NOT linear(But they are close enough). Its actually a combination of the variable resistor in the tank attached to the float along with the low voltage fed to it from the PCM that causes the linearity to not be perfect. The PCM has a resistor within it that knocks down a voltage level in the PCM for that circuit to below 5vdc. Its a weird value that I cant remember off the top of my head. So that resistor is in series with the variable resistor in the tank. The feedback voltage is then sent to your Fuel Gauge in your IC from your fuel level sensor in the tank. The stepper motor responds accordingly. I could get much more specific and technical but there are some good vids on youtube that do this.
