Hey all,

I've been out of a Yukon for 4 years and I'm going back. My question is I'm looking at the Ultimate package but is the 2017 & 2018 the same? Can I go back a year and still get all the bells and whistles? Before the salesman fill my ears and head with bs I figured I'd ask the pro's what the deal is.

Thanks in advance.

I would do a Google search for 2017 & 2018 Ultimate package and compare or go to the GMC website and build both to compare or go to my local GMC Dealer and look at a 2017 & 2018 window sticker on new vehicles and see what is in the description of the ultimate package. You could go before they open or after they close and not have to deal with the sales staff.

Before buying mine, I did some custom builds on the website and it seems that the Denali Ultimate Package may save you a few hundred bucks to around a grand...compared to just adding all the options separately without the package.
As far as the differences between the 17 and 18 go...the 18 has the brand new grill which I really like. I thought the previous grill looked outdated and old. The 18 also has the new 10 speed engine.

Yeah that new transmission is really sweet and the grill is nice. I had a 2012/15 and the grill was the exact same as the 2017. So it looks like I'm pushing for the 18.

Thanks Guys

I hate to be 'that guy'.
But you would think with a designation such as ULTIMATE, the truck would contain more exterior upgrades than an exhaust tip, mirror caps, and different GMC wheels.

I was honestly expecting something blacked out, chromeless, etc. These things are already pretty blinged out. I just can't see those changes being anything noticeable.

This comes to mind when I hear ULTIMATE.

That XL is damn near perfect. If it wasn't for having a family of 6 now....I'd throw some 26s on my 18 XL and drop it 2/4 like I did on my Tahoe.

Yeah I hear you on that, seems its more the auto running boards, and the "infotanement" system. Heck I had to ADD a subwoofer for another $300 to the "Ultimate package"

I would buy that, even if it boomed, buffeted and vibrated my balls off, that thing looks bad...

And stop being ‘that guy’ dammit....

One difference: the 2018 has ventilated front seats whereas the 2017 has seats that are actually cooled. I think that the 2018 is better. I have a 2016 with the cooled seats - and they rattle. I've wondered whether GM moved to ventilated seats in order to solve the rattle. my dealer told me that most customers who complain of rattles have Yukons with cooled seats. other than differences in paint options and the adjustable front grill, I don't know of any significant differences.

Hey JW,

what about the stereo head unit? Is it the same in the 2017-2018 also?

I don’t think the 2017’s are actually ‘cooled’. I think they are likely identical to the 2018s except for name change. Never experienced a rattle with mine. Though many I can’t hear it over the other cacophony of rattles.

I hope to god the 18’s don’t boom, buffet, or vibrate. [emoji120]

I'm confused by this. I believe my seats blow air through the perforations. If you turn the stereo down you can hear the air blowing through. Or am I hearing something else?
FWIW, my seats don't rattle. Really nothing does in my interior. The only thing that sets me off in the smallest way are the DVD headphones sliding around in the rear drivers side cubby.

Ventilated vs cooled? They both blow air through perforations, though one also goes through an AC system. Both do the job.

You sure about that? I have the ‘cooled’ seats and there is a fan that sucks in air behind the seat and blows it through the holes. Where does it tap into the ac? Does it turns in the condenser?

I'm not 100% sure but lets say around 99%, that in 2015 the seats were "cooled" and then in 2016 and on they switched to "ventilated". I remember reading about this somewhere and it was due to issues with the cooling mechanism. I don't have references but just going off memory but should be enough for those who want to research further.
