The car audio shop I got my alarm installed didn't wire up my seats..

Was wondering how in-depth it would be to do this myself.. just wondering if anyone has.

Install shops do it all the time here, so I know it's possible...no idea on the details, though. They also tend to wire autostarts to automatically turn on the rear-defrost as well.

It really depends on how many functions your system has. You can even wire some systems to roll your windows up or down. I have no idea on how to do it but it is possible. I have a buddy that is an electrical genius. What kind of alarm are you running? I need the model number.

I thought they just did it? When I remote start the yukon they come on. But only if its like below 30, I kinda wish they turned on when it was a bit warmer as even 40 here is cold.

Mine turn on by themselves if I leave the truck on the lowest level of heat before I turn off the truck the night before. It does it to the passenger seat and the driver seat. Not sure if all the trucks do this or I just may have a helper squirrel in there helping me out!... haha

I e-mailed my buddy. As soon as he responds, I will let you know. He may be able to get a diagram to show you how to do it.

Yours is the OEM remote start and it is set to turn on the seat heaters if its below 32* iirc. Also it sets the HVAC either heat or AC depending on ambient temp.

Titanium, I know its possible and is pretty straight forward if your electrically inclined. As someone else said, it is really going to depend on whether or not you have an output on the clifford available for use.

Same alarm I have (50.5x) and it definetly has enough aux channels to do the seats as well as the windows...I'd personally just take it back to the shop and tell them you aren't happy with the halfassed install they did and make them wire that shit up.

2000-2002 is different than 2003-2006. in 03+ some of the bypass modules can also control the heated seats etc. in my 01 and your 02 the bypass modules will not so we have to be creative. I have a viper 5901. I wired/soldered directly to one of the pins on the button, you need to send it a positive pulse. Use a voltmeter to see which side has a positive charge, the other side is what should get the wired in signal. I used a relay to reverse the polarity from the alarms (-) output, and used Aux 1.
In hindsight you could also just solder a wire to either side of the button, have the alarm trigger a relay to complete the connection.
For defrost, There is a wire that can send a negative pulse 10 seconds after remote start if the temp is below 55 degrees. This also I wired directly to the button, but I didn't need to reverse polarity, as a negative pulse is what works.
For both of theese, you need to have the alarm settings correctly programed/enabled, i.e. pulse vs latched, enable derfrost mode. If you have access to a bitwriter you can also fine tune the temp settings etc.

thanks for the posts guys..

I've dismantled my alarm after losing my keys in a snow storm...

Going to have to take it back to the shop to get it re-wired.. so I'll have them do the seats this time ;)

Maybe that's why they want to charge me $70 for the bypass module....I thought that was a bit high.

yeah, kinda cruddy how you can't change the preset trigger... I generally manually turn my heated seats on anytime its under 60 degrees.

Sounds like Dismay's defrost wire would be the hot ticket for turning on seat heaters for me.
