So this morning I went out to my truck to go to work... Drivers side lock cylinder popped, door ajar, GPS-MAGLITE-SUBS, GONE.

Awesome...

Cool thing is, is that it happened in front of my house, about 20 foot away from my bedroom window... didn't hear a thing.

Time for an alarm. I've done a ton of research on this site n see that everyone has good experience with whatever system they chose. I'm plannin on dumpin about $500 installed. Sound about right for a 2-way remote start/security system? What ya'll think as long as its a compustar, autopage, viper, or clifford? Can i go wrong as long as I have a good installer?

Also, how well do proxy sensors work with these vehicles?

my brothers car (not a tahoe or yukon) got broke into just last night and stole his memphis amp and 2 alpine subs. it was an old I think 89 chevy celebrity that he drives around college and he lives in an apartment and it just happened right outside in the apt complex parking lot. I would be furious if that were me but shit happens. anyway, Ive been tryin to get my parents to buy me the viper 5901 for christmas and the total price for me wouldve been like $610 installed tax included but thats with the parts at $500 and on the viper site its $600. many people have viper and love em.

I have never had my personal cars broken into, but my best friend just had his colorado broken into about a week ago outside his house. They got his kenwood dd with navi, his amps and subs, and his ipod. They also got his wifes car as well, and got the same deck that he had in his truck.

I have nothing of value inside the Denali. They'd get away with a few CD's/DVD's and maybe $5. When I get wheels I'll get an alarm/remote start. I think anything DEI is good.

Yup, only my stupid ass had a spare key in the center console and away it went. Ended up getting it back striped of the system. One of the worst feelings!

Not my Kon, but when I had my Monte Carlo someone busted out my window, broke some stuff inside, and threw my registration in my neighbors yard.

I had somone try and get into mine. Luckily they tried to unlock the door from the inside and the alarm scared them off.

*knock on wood*

hasn't happened yet... came close tho. I was walking out to mine one night and saw 3 guys scoping it out... two were lookout and one was on my passenger door looking thru the tints to see what was inside.

I chirped the alarm and they looked around for a minute.. then they went back to the pass. door.. I hit the panic button and they walked off.

Damn, Sorry to hear man... At least they didn't try to steal your ride. Like Titanium02 said (Knock on wood) that it hasn't happened to me yet... After seeing this I am moving a Alarm system to the top of my to-do list.

looking at my kenwood ddx514 sitting in the box here, this thread makes me nervous. had an old honda that was broken into in my HS parking lot. took my CD book, headunit, front tweeters(had them surface mounted, not flush), couldn't get any of my other speakers since they didn't have a philips screwdriver, just a flathead which they used to pop the lock.

Never my yukon or tahoe but my integra was broken into when it was getting painted about 8 years ago. Nobody looks closely at my truck and I usually have my dog with me or it's parked in a garage. Also anyone that knows me is wise enough to never **** with my vehicles as it can usually be a friend of a friend of an acquaintance that decides to jack your shit if he knows what you have. Guns, dogs, and a black as **** denali are a solid deterrent.

someone, probably a kid or something, because they didn't break the window on my tahoe, they hit it with a chunk of concrete and it just scratched the window, and they put a dent in the door with it too...back in January, I said **** that, and got a Clifford alarm that day. Since then, I'm sure it has saved me at least once, a couple months ago at a flea market. my remote chirped like someone had bumped it, I honestly thought my kid who I was holding hit a button on the remote with his foot, so I didn't think anything of it. When we left, my buddy who went also, found HIS yukon broken into. So I think they bumped mine to test for an alarm first. Of course then yesterday I saw that my front license plate is missing, and I doubt it just fell off....That pisses me off, they know I have an alarm so they **** with other shit.

One question, just curious, when they pop that lock cylinder what are they doing to open the door? cuz my buddy's door we still couldn't simply pull the handle and open it.

hitting the rod to open the latch.

never been broken into, but have had stuff stolen.

they stole a $20 15 year old pioneer out of the wife's car (but ignored the nike and tommy baby shoes???) and sorted thru the stuff in the trunk when I moved her car to the street and forgot to relock it.

they stole an old kicker i405d amp that I was 4 hold down screws from installing when I had to go inside and pee. didn't close the hatch on my Talon cause I didn't expect trouble. They ignored the basslink sitting right next to it.

We had an arsonist on my block, and the kid 3 houses down walked up at 3 am and offered me crank or coke or something... started talking about how high he gets, how if i ever want anything, etc.

Then the tagging started.

I got smart and I moved from that neighborhood... it was no longer safe for me or my family and I was tired of walking the street at night all night from 12 - 6 am to prevent the neighborhood arsonist from striking again. (the cops said on the record that they would not and could not patrol that neighborhood, even randomly...)

After I moved... shocker! He tried to burn down a house instead of a car on the street, car in a carport, or the carport itself! (see the progression?)

Now have a house with a garage, adult neighbors, and no damned teenagers.
