I have one of my Denalis set up as a work truck using only the driver and passenger seats up front. I have the rest of the truck set up as a K9 rig.

So does anyone know if there is anyway to put a child seat in the front seat of the truck? I really need a way to drop my son off at school without switching trucks every time.

No offense here but if you have read any single child safety seat manual, your vehicle manual, or any other child car safe information, you'd already know that a child safety should never be placed in the front seat. Please, do the best thing for your child and use the other truck to drop them off. If may be a pain in the ass but just think of something were to happen and those front airbags go off, it would not be good.

No offense taken. But here is the deal....so many pick up trucks (which is what our trucks are based off of) have the ability to turn off the passenger side air bag for this exact reason. I am asking if there is any way to do this on a new Denali.

They used to have an actual switch to turn off the passenger air bags (a long time ago). I believe they have removed this feature for liability reasons. I think it's all based on the weight detected on the passenger seat. If the child and the car seat weigh less than whatever the limit is the air bag shouldn't turn on.

I would think someone much smarter than me could probably wire in a switch for it or something. Maybe there is something under the seat that could be tapped into.

However with that being said.... I wouldn't take that chance. :)

Op did say to drop him off at school...so he might be eligible for a booster seat by now. It depends on weight. Time to weigh the lad or really the best advice would be to find out your state/provincial code on this.

It is illegal in a lot of places for a child under 12 to ride in the front passenger seat because of the air bags. That I have heard anyway.

He is 3 1/2. He is in one of those Recaro child seats.

It's hard having a purpose built truck set up just for the dogs. I really wish I could move him in the same truck.

the seat should have a min weight sensor to turn the air bag on. your little one shouldn't be heavy enough to turn it on

on a side note where do you think he would set if you had a single cab truck? if the font seat is your only option I don't see the problem with him riding up there
