power steering

i drive a 99 yukon denali, stock. when im driving down the road and i go into a turn, if i turn it slightly to either side it will jerk over real hard and then come back. Ive been told by some people that all GM's do that, is that true that it just happens or do i have a problem? has anyone else had this problem?

Wow. Not normal. Take it to an alignment shop. They'll be able to tell you what's up. You can check some stuff yourself, like your steering linkage, hubs, and ball joints (just search the tech section), but it sounds to me like your alignment is off, especially if it pulls equally to either side. so you dont think its a power steering problem at all, great.

sounds to me like its the steering wheel motion sensor, it doesnt sound like its a problem with the steering components themselves. This is a fairly easy and inexpensive fix. if you disconnect the steering assist control solenoid you should find the problem goes away, this all depends on whether your yukon has VES (variable effort steering) which im 99% sure it does. Again this is only a guess based on your description. You can always check all the steering linkage, hubs, tires, etc. for free to rule out that as a cause.

Wow. Coop's fix sounds better than mine. I'm not too familiar with yukons. Go that route first. My Hoe doesn't have variable effort steering, or anything so exotic. rofl

Hahaha, i think all our hoes from 96' up or earlier have it, although it does sound exotic

Just out of curiosity do you remember how much you spent on parts? cause when i went to look it up i couldnt really find the part/link i was looking for.
