You might try using a thin tool like a butter knife to gently pry the cover open. If that doesn't work, consult your furniture's manual or a professional to avoid damage.

This is exactly what helped me to solve this problem :)
Btw, I looked through the NetSpend reviews later and I wasn't alone. So, sometimes banging is the best way out, though it even sounds weird.
as long as there is a place for something wedged to come out the bottom then banging on can work, not unlike when a chip bag gets hung up in a vending machine

That area ate up a whole Starbucks straw somehow. I watched it slide in slow motion and was too late on catching it before it fell. My main concern was the slider would open successfully anymore but, it did. I was impressed to say the least lol
